VTF exists and operates as a separate, independent entity with its own officers and governing board – managing, investing, and distributing private resources to advance Virginia Tech’s mission and its strategic priorities.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Chief Real Estate & Commercial Development Officer, the Director, Portfolio Strategy & Transactions serves as the day-to‑day lead for portfolio management, leasing activity, and third-party transactions across the Virginia Tech Foundation’s real estate platform, with a focus on portfolio activity and transaction execution.

This role manages leasing, dispositions, acquisitions, and broader investment activity at the direction of the Chief Real Estate & Commercial Development Officer, while overseeing deal pipeline, transaction execution, and market engagement. The position also supports development and strategic initiatives while driving improvements in reporting, process discipline, and overall operational efficiency across the platform.

Key Responsibilities Leasing Strategy Execution
  • Lead day-to-day leasing activity across the VTF real estate platform
  • Implement pricing, tenant mix, and positioning in alignment with portfolio direction
  • Manage and track leasing pipeline, activity, and performance
Transactions (Execution & Coordination)
  • Coordinate execution of leasing transactions, portfolio dispositions, and acquisitions
  • Support evaluation and advancement of acquisition and disposition opportunities
  • Manage transaction processes, timelines, and documentation
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders throughout deal execution
Market & External Coordination
  • Serve as primary day-to-day point of contact for brokers, advisors, and other external partners
  • Coordinate leasing and transaction activity with third parties
  • Support market visibility and positioning of assets
  • Provide input on asset positioning and market opportunities
  • Support evaluation of redevelopment, development, and portfolio initiatives
  • Assist senior leadership in execution of broader portfolio strategy and investment activity
Execution Coordination
  • Coordinate with internal teams responsible for leasing execution and tenant activity
  • Ensure alignment between market activity and internal execution
  • Monitor transaction pipeline, timelines, and key milestones
  • Support real estate systems, reporting accuracy, and data consistency
  • Drive process improvements to enhance transparency, accountability, and operational efficiency
External Engagement
  • Support senior leadership in key relationships and strategic initiatives
