Be Part of What's Next

Help redefine how brands show up in culture through social-first storytelling that actually connects. This is your chance to concept, direct, and bring to life video work seen by millions.

About Hearst Magazines (Why Us?)

Hearst Magazines is one of the largest publishers in the world, with more than 30 brands, including Cosmopolitan, ELLE, Esquire, Good Housekeeping, Harper's BAZAAR, Popular Mechanics, and Oprah Daily. We reach more than 150 million people every month in the United States alone.
But we're more than just our magazines. We engage our audience across all mediums and channels-print, digital, video, and social-with sophisticated content creation, distribution, and data capabilities. We create, package, and sell products with cutting-edge technology and proprietary platforms. Together, we are reinventing publishing for the 21st century.

Key Responsibilities (What You Are Doing)

  • Lead the creative development of social-first video concepts aligned with client goals
  • Own end-to-end execution from idea through final delivery across social and on-site platforms
  • Develop narratives, scripts, and treatments that balance brand objectives with editorial voice
  • Define visual style and storytelling approach through mood boards, references, and creative direction
  • Direct on-set shoots, guiding talent, creators, and crew while adapting in real time
  • Collaborate with producers to scope shoots, assess feasibility, and ensure efficient execution
  • Oversee post-production to ensure content is engaging, platform-native, and aligned with creative vision
  • Stay ahead of platform trends, creator formats, and emerging tools to continuously evolve output

Qualifications (What We're Looking For)

  • 4+ years of experience in publishing, agency, or in-house brand environments
  • Strong understanding of social platforms (TikTok, Instagram, YouTube) and what drives performance
  • Experience developing and executing client-facing video campaigns
  • Confidence directing talent, including influencers, creators, and crew
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills across cross-functional teams
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • A hands-on creative mindset-you can both concept and execute
  • Based in or able to work in NYC with a hybrid schedule (4 days/week in-office)

Benefits (What We Offer)

  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance
  • Flexible spending accounts (FSA) and health savings accounts (HSA)
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Paid time off, including vacation, sick time, and holidays
  • Parental leave and family support programs
  • Employee discounts and access to exclusive events

Compensation & EEO

The base salary for this role is between $76,000 and $87,000. The actual base pay offered is dependent upon many factors, such as transferable skills, work experience, business needs, and market demands.
