Role Summary:
  • This ET role requires extensive Oracle expertise to support the Global Planning & Budgeting portfolio. EPM systems, including Hyperion Planning, Essbase, and FDMโ€”represent more than 80% of the workload.
  • Strong daily working knowledge of Oracle Cloud Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) processes and solutions, including Planning, FDMEE, and Hyperion Financial Reporting.
  • Exceptional understanding of multidimensional concepts.
  • Experience working on large and complex Essbase design and development.
Job Summary:
  • Translating detailed business requirements, design deliverables, and solution architecture into comprehensive technical specifications.
  • Maintaining effective and consistent communication within the team, with peers, the leadership team and the peers in other IT groups. Proactively raise issues to Project Manager, Team and Group Leads when necessary.
  • Producing high quality application engineering deliverables in accordance with the project timeline.
  • Building and unit evaluating a project to detailed design specifications.
  • Providing thought leadership and technical guidance to engineering staff.
  • Leading a team of developers across multiple locations / time zones.
Essential Requirements for a role in PB development:
  • More than 13 years of proven, hands-on experience gathering requirements and designing, developing, customizing, testing, and implementing Oracle Cloud services, including Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) IaaS/PaaS, Essbase databases, and Enterprise Planning and Budgeting Cloud Service within the Oracle EPM SaaS suite.
  • Well versed with Oracle Hyperion Planning 11.1.2.x, FDMEE and Hyperion Financial Reports.
  • Exceptional understanding of multidimensional concepts.
  • Experience working on large and complex Essbase design and development.
  • Expert level experience in all areas of Essbase such as outline design, member formula, Calc script, MaxL script, Report script, load rule, ASO and BSO storage. Candidate must be familiar and able to:
    • Create batch scripts using epmautomate, CLI, MAXL
    • Build custom scripting using Rest-API, groovy and java.
    • Create pipelines to trigger hourly, weekly, and nightly schedules.
    • Create custom groovy scripting for flex forms (EPBCS).
    • Create groovy Business Rules to trigger jobs on OCI
  • Extensive experience in developing Hyperion Forms, Task Lists, menu, and smart lists.
  • Extensive experience implementing Oracle EPM solutions globally.
  • Extensive business process experience on Financial Planning & Forecasting
  • Extensive understanding of financial statements, budgeting and forecasting process and consolidation process
  • Exposure in supporting budgeting activities like Annual budgets, forecasts.
  • Clear understanding of a full lifecycle development in a Hyperion Planning environment including design, development, and maintenance of Essbase databases.
  • Experience in process/technical optimization of Hyperion Planning and Essbase based processes.
  • Well versed in setting up Hyperion Planning environments; developing Hyperion Planning solutions; and migration to prod and non-prod environments.
  • Proficient in SQL Server areas such as writing complex stored procedures, schema design, and SSIS package.
  • Intermediate, firsthand experience with the Excel Essbase Add-in, Smart View VBA, and the Essbase API.
  • Experience in Hyperion Financial Reporting
  • Experience working in Windows environment and experience in batch scripting.
Functions of the Job:
  • Develop and deliver technical systems.
  • Ensure compliance with architectural principles, global product guidelines, usability standards, and related requirements.
  • Provide support and documentation to assist in sustaining the project during the transition to production where necessary.
  • Adheres to Application Engineering methodologies, standards, code reviews.
  • Provide feedback regarding application engineering methodologies, standards and leading practices when appropriate.
  • Identifies potential points of contention for missed activities and notify project leadership of situation and remediation plan.
  • Minimizes technical exposure and risk on projects.
  • Work closely with:
    • Application Engineering Team/Group Leads and Technical Leads to understand strategic goals/objectives and translate into actionable plans.
    • Application Engineering Team/Group Leads and Technical Leads to successfully implement, use, and monitor EY initiatives.
    • Solutions Delivery to build solutions as part of end-to-end projects.
    • Operations managers to support the project effectively and efficiently during the transition phase.
    • Peer Staff Engineers to properly coordinate project deliverables on projects involving multiple Staff Engineers.
Analytical/Decision Making Responsibilities:
  • Proactively identifies and addresses application engineering strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats.
  • Proactively anticipates project issues before they occur; defines the problem; identifies potential causes; works with team to identify solutions; selects and implements most appropriate solution.
  • Applies judgment in implementing Application Engineering methodologies, processes, and practices to specific requirements of projects/programs which may include product design engineering, information security, code maintainability, and reliability.
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills to manage multiple technical challenges across assigned projects.
Technical Skills Required:
  • 10-15 yearsโ€™ hands-on experience with Oracle EPM System including Hyperion Planning, Essbase, FDMEE
  • Prior experience with version 11.1.2.x Oracle EPM.
  • Hyperion products certifications preferred
  • Strong knowledge of Essbase and Calc Scripts/Calc Manager.
  • Experience in developing Hyperion Forms, Task Lists, menu and smart lists.
  • Hands-on experience with Smart View VBA.
  • Experience in Hyperion Financial Reporting
  • Strong ability to understand finance and accounting principles.
  • Working with large Hyperion Application Development and support projects.
  • Experience working with Global implementations of Oracle EPM.
  • Solid interpersonal communication and organizational skills required to operate as a contributing member of global technical teams that deliver quality services.
  • Strong technical skills designing, developing, debugging, documenting, and implementing applications.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in the Agile development methodology.
Education Requirements:
  • A degree in Computer Science or related discipline or equivalent work experience.

The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $122,200 to $228,600. The base salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $146,700 to $259,700. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options.
