Job description

Job Summary

Vertex is seeking a Director of Oracle ERP Delivery to lead the strategy, optimization, and governance of the Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) platform that supports global finance operations. This role serves as a strategic partner to Accounting and other business stakeholders using the platform to ensure Oracle EBS and related financial systems are scalable, compliant, efficient, and aligned with business objectives. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in Oracle EBS Financials, strong accounting and controllership knowledge, and a proven ability to lead system transformation, process improvement, and cross‑functional initiatives in a regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the accounting technology strategy, roadmap, and governance for Oracle EBS and related finance systems.
  • Partner with Accounting, Finance, and IT to define and deliver system enhancements, upgrades, integrations, and support models.
  • Oversee the design, configuration, maintenance, and optimization of Oracle EBS financial modules.
  • Drive process improvements and automation across accounting operations, including close, reconciliations, reporting, and transaction processing.
  • Ensure financial systems support accurate, timely, and compliant accounting operations and reporting requirements.
  • Maintain strong internal control environments by partnering with Controllership, Compliance, and Internal Audit on SOX and audit‑related requirements.
  • Lead business requirements gathering, solution design reviews, testing strategy, and user acceptance testing for system changes.
  • Evaluate and improve upstream and downstream system integrations affecting accounting data and financial reporting.
  • Establish and monitor performance metrics for system effectiveness, data quality, and process efficiency.
  • Manage finance technology initiatives, including cross‑functional projects, third‑party vendors, and implementation partners.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop team members supporting accounting systems and finance technology operations.
  • Support change management, communication, training, and adoption efforts for new or enhanced financial systems.
  • Collaborate closely with the platform team to ensure alignment with operations; incl. patching, releases, dependencies with non‑financial modules, etc.
  • Partner with cross‑functional teams to understand the full portfolio of projects on the platform.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Deep knowledge of Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) Financials and its application within a complex accounting environment.
  • Strong understanding of core accounting processes, including: Order to Cash, Record to Report and Procure to Pay General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets and Cash Management Financial close and reporting.
  • Strong knowledge of internal controls, SOX compliance, audit support, and financial systems governance.
  • Experience translating accounting and business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
  • Understanding of ERP integrations, data flows, reconciliation processes, and financial data integrity controls.
  • Experience with process optimization, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong project leadership, stakeholder management, and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with finance leaders, technical teams, auditors, and external partners.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making capabilities.
  • Ability to lead teams in a fast‑paced, highly regulated, and evolving business environment.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Information Systems, or a related field required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in financial systems leadership, including experience in a biotech or regulated industry.
  • Strong background supporting accounting operations, controllership, and financial reporting processes through technology.
  • Experience working with senior leaders and cross‑functional stakeholders in a complex organization.
  • Experience leading teams and managing vendors or implementation partners is preferred.
Compensation and Benefits

Pay Range: $198,000 - $297,000. This role is eligible for an annual bonus and annual equity awards. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirements. Actual base salary pay will be based on a number of factors, including skills, competencies, experience, and other job‑related factors permitted by law. Location and Working Arrangement

Hybrid‑Eligible: work remotely up to two days per week; or adopt a full on‑site schedule five days per week with ad‑hoc flexibility. Flex eligibility status is subject to Vertex’s Policy on Flex @ Vertex Program and may be changed at any time.
