Atlantic Federal Credit Union is seeking a strategic and innovative Director of Deposit Operations to lead our Deposit Operations, Payments, and Fraud teams. This role is ideal for an experienced operational leader who excels at improving processes, developing teams, managing risk, and enhancing the member experience.


As a key member of the Operations leadership team, you will oversee critical deposit and payment functions, strengthen fraud prevention efforts, advance organizational effectiveness, and help implement the technologies and services that support our long-term growth, operational performance, and member value.

What You'll Do

Lead and Develop High-Performing Teams

  • Provide leadership, coaching, and direction to managers and operational teams.
  • Establish clear goals, service standards, and performance expectations.
  • Build a culture of accountability, collaboration, and growth.
  • Support succession planning, employee development, and workforce planning initiatives.

Drive Operational Performance

  • Oversee deposit operations, payment processing, digital banking support, and fraud operations.
  • Ensure efficient, accurate, and member-focused delivery of operational services.
  • Monitor key performance indicators and implement solutions that enhance performance.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to strengthen workflows, service levels, and organizational effectiveness.
     

Strengthen Risk Management and Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state regulations, including NCUA, BSA/AML, OFAC, NACHA, Regulation E, and Regulation CC requirements.
  • Lead audit, examination, and regulatory review preparation and response efforts.
  • Maintain effective policies, procedures, controls, and monitoring programs that minimize operational and fraud-related risk.
  • Serve as a key contact for auditors, examiners, and compliance partners.

Lead Payments and Fraud Strategy

  • Direct fraud prevention, loss mitigation, and operational risk initiatives.
  • Monitor industry trends, emerging threats, and payment innovations.
  • Evaluate and implement tools, technologies, and processes that strengthen security while enhancing member convenience.
  • Support the successful launch of new payment services and operational technologies.
  • Partner with leadership on strategic initiatives that support growth, scalability, and service enhancement.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, certifications, and experience.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in deposit operations, payments, fraud management, banking operations, or a related financial services environment.
  • Proven leadership experience managing teams and building organizational capability.
  • Strong understanding of operational risk management, compliance, and payment systems.
  • Strategic thinker with strong business acumen and the ability to align operational priorities with organizational goals.
  • Excellent communicator who can influence, collaborate, and build relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Skilled at balancing operational efficiency, risk management, and a commitment to service excellence.
  • Adaptable leader who embraces innovation, change, and continuous learning.
