Regional Operations Director – Assisted LivingSalary

$120,000 – $150,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications, plus eligibility for a performance-based bonus.

Position Summary

The Regional Operations Director – Assisted Living provides operational leadership, strategic direction, and performance oversight for multiple assisted living communities within an assigned region. This leader partners closely with Executive Directors and department leaders to ensure operational excellence, regulatory compliance, exceptional resident care, financial performance, and employee engagement.

The ideal candidate is an experienced multi-site leader who is passionate about developing people, building high-performing teams, improving occupancy, and driving outstanding resident and family satisfaction. This position serves as a mentor and coach to community leadership while ensuring each community achieves organizational goals and maintains the highest standards of quality and service.

Essential ResponsibilitiesOperational Leadership
  • Provide direct operational oversight for multiple Assisted Living communities.
  • Coach, mentor, and support Executive Directors in achieving operational excellence.
  • Conduct regular community visits to evaluate performance, identify opportunities, and ensure consistent standards.
  • Develop and implement action plans to improve underperforming communities.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Financial Performance
  • Monitor budgets, labor management, census, and overall financial performance.
  • Partner with Executive Directors to develop strategies that improve occupancy and profitability.
  • Analyze financial reports, identify trends, and implement corrective action when necessary.
  • Ensure effective expense management while maintaining exceptional resident care.
Resident Care & Quality
  • Promote exceptional resident experiences and person-centered care.
  • Ensure communities maintain compliance with all state, federal, and company regulations.
  • Monitor quality assurance initiatives, survey readiness, infection prevention, and resident satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with clinical leadership to ensure high-quality care outcomes.
Leadership Development
  • Recruit, develop, coach, and retain high-performing Executive Directors and community leadership teams.
  • Assist with onboarding, leadership training, succession planning, and talent development.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching and professional development.
  • Support communities during leadership transitions and temporary vacancies.
Regulatory Compliance
  • Ensure all communities operate in compliance with applicable state regulations and company policies.
  • Prepare communities for regulatory surveys and assist with Plans of Correction when needed.
  • Promote best practices in safety, risk management, documentation, and resident rights.
Business Development
  • Partner with Sales and Marketing teams to increase occupancy and strengthen community reputation.
  • Support outreach initiatives and community engagement activities.
  • Assist with new community openings, acquisitions, and operational transitions as assigned.
QualificationsRequired
  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Nursing, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 5 years of senior leadership experience in Assisted Living, Senior Living, Long-Term Care, or Healthcare Operations.
  • Previous experience as an Executive Director or Regional Leader overseeing multiple communities.
  • Strong knowledge of Assisted Living regulations and compliance standards.
  • Proven experience improving occupancy, financial performance, and operational outcomes.
  • Ability to travel extensively throughout the assigned region.
Preferred
  • Licensed Assisted Living Administrator (where applicable).
  • Multi-site leadership experience.
  • Experience with budget management and operational analytics.
  • Strong understanding of sales, marketing, recruitment, and employee retention strategies.
