Position Overview

The Director of Technology is responsible for the strategy, governance, delivery, and operational performance of Mullins Mechanical's technology ecosystem. This role oversees enterprise technology operations, business systems, data and analytics capabilities, automation initiatives, system integrations, and technology enablement efforts that support the organization's growth and operational objectives. The Director serves as the primary owner of the company's technology strategy and technology operating model, ensuring that infrastructure, applications, reporting, automation, and support services remain scalable, secure, reliable, and aligned with business needs. This position also provides leadership and direction for the technology team, including responsibility for construction-focused business systems, data and automation resources, third-party technology providers, and technology investment planning. The role partners closely with Organizational Excellence and business leaders to evaluate and implement technology solutions that support approved business requirements and organizational priorities.

Key Accountabilities

Technology Strategy & Governance

• Define and execute the enterprise technology roadmap, ensuring alignment with company strategy, operational priorities, and long-term growth objectives.
• Establish governance frameworks, standards, and architectural principles that guide technology decisions across the organization.
• Evaluate emerging technologies, software platforms, automation opportunities, and enterprise systems to support business scalability and operational efficiency.
• Develop and maintain enterprise standards for technology architecture, integrations, analytics, automation, and data governance.
• Provide executive leadership with visibility into technology performance, risks, investment opportunities, and strategic recommendations.
• Ensure technology investments support enterprise priorities while maintaining a secure, sustainable, and scalable technology environment.

Information Technology Operations

• Own the overall performance, reliability, and effectiveness of the company's IT function.
• Serve as the primary relationship manager for managed service providers (MSPs), ensuring accountability, service quality, responsiveness, and alignment with business expectations.
• Oversee employee technology lifecycle processes, including onboarding, offboarding, account provisioning, access management, device deployment, and license administration.
• Ensure company hardware, mobile devices, technology assets, and endpoint environments are effectively managed throughout their lifecycle.
• Partner with internal and external technology providers to maintain cybersecurity controls, identity management, backup strategies, disaster recovery readiness, and technology risk mitigation practices.
• Monitor support trends, recurring issues, service metrics, and user experience while driving continuous improvement of technology support services.

Technology Financial Management & Vendor Oversight

• Develop, maintain, and manage annual technology operating and capital budgets.
• Forecast future technology investments required to support organizational growth, operational needs, and system modernization initiatives.
• Partner with business leaders to evaluate technology requests, prioritize investments, and ensure responsible allocation of resources.
• Own software licensing strategy, technology procurement processes, contract administration, vendor negotiations, and renewal planning.
• Monitor technology spending and vendor performance to ensure cost effectiveness, value realization, and budget adherence.
• Develop recommendations for technology investments, replacements, upgrades, and long-term platform strategies.

Enterprise Systems & Applications

• Own governance, administration strategy, lifecycle management, and technical health of enterprise technology platforms and business applications.
• Ensure enterprise systems, integrations, and technology solutions align with established technology standards and architectural principles.
• Oversee technical evaluation, configuration strategy, integration planning, and deployment of new technology solutions.
• Provide technology leadership for system implementations, upgrades, enhancements, and platform optimization efforts.
• Partner with Organizational Excellence and business stakeholders to assess and design technology solutions that support approved business requirements and operational objectives.
• Establish standards that ensure technology platforms remain maintainable, scalable, secure, and effectively integrated.

Data, Analytics & Automation

• Define enterprise priorities and roadmap for reporting, analytics, automation, and business intelligence capabilities.
• Establish and maintain data governance standards that promote data quality, consistency, visibility, and organizational trust.
• Identify opportunities to improve operational effectiveness through technology-enabled automation, integrations, and data-driven decision support.
• Ensure reporting and analytics capabilities support informed decision-making across executive, operational, and project teams.
• Drive the development of scalable reporting, dashboarding, and automation solutions that reduce manual effort and improve visibility into business performance.

Technical Delivery & Solution Architecture

• Provide technical leadership and execution support for business improvement and transformation initiatives sponsored through the Organizational Excellence portfolio.
• Lead technical design, systems architecture, integration planning, data modeling, and technology implementation activities associated with approved initiatives.
• Ensure technology solutions are aligned with enterprise architecture standards and long-term strategic objectives.
• Coordinate technical resources, vendors, and technology partners involved in project execution.
• Maintain ownership of technology implementation risks, technical dependencies, solution quality, and platform sustainability.

Technical Delivery & Solution Architecture

• Lead, mentor, and develop technology team members while establishing clear priorities, performance expectations, and development plans.
• Build organizational technology capabilities by identifying future staffing needs, technical competencies, and capacity requirements.
• Foster strong partnerships with Operations, Finance, Safety, Human Resources, Learning & Development, and Organizational Excellence teams.
• Promote a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, innovation, and service excellence within the technology function.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, Construction Technology, or a related field preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in technology, business systems, digital enablement, or information technology management.
• Experience leading enterprise technology strategy and IT operations.
• Experience managing business systems, software implementations, data and analytics initiatives, and technology vendors.
• Experience developing and managing technology operating and capital budgets.
• Experience leading technology teams and cross-functional technology initiatives.
• Construction, engineering, industrial services, manufacturing, or project-based industry experience strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of enterprise business applications, systems architecture, integrations, reporting platforms, and automation technologies.
• Working knowledge of cybersecurity, endpoint management, identity management, and technology governance best practices.
• Strong financial acumen with experience managing technology investments and vendor relationships.
• Ability to balance strategic planning, technology governance, and operational execution.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills across technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to translate business requirements into scalable technology solutions.

 Working Conditions & Flexibility:

• This position is primarily based out of Mullins Mechanical's Greenway office in Carrollton, GA.
• Regular interaction with corporate departments, operational leaders, project teams, and field personnel is required.
• Periodic travel to jobsites, fabrication facilities, warehouses, and other company locations is expected to support system implementations, technology assessments, operational alignment, training initiatives, and stakeholder engagement.
• Work may occasionally require visits to active construction environments, including exposure to varying weather conditions, noise levels, and site-specific safety requirements. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn when required.
• Occasional travel may be necessary to support technology vendors, conferences, training events, company meetings, or strategic initiatives.
