The Director of Strategy will lead the creation and execution of the Supply business strategy, influence and create the strategy process and key critical strategic initiatives for the Trane Technologies Supply business. Reporting to the President of Supply, this position will lead strategic alignment across the business in defining and executing key growth opportunities, leverage and establish processes and tools that enable a consistent culture of strategic foresight, customer excellence, and continuous improvement.

In addition to strategy process leadership, this role will partner with cross-functional teams in executing and refreshing the strategic plans. The successful candidate will build and own a pipeline and process for developing and managing relationships as well as defining proactive opportunities to accelerate our strategies.

Principal Responsibilities
Team Leadership

  • Lead the strategic programs and various continuous improvement teams as they partner cross functionally across the business to execute and enable the strategic plans.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing strategy team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.
  • Provide coaching and professional development opportunities to team members, helping them to build skills in strategic planning, analytics, and business management.

Strategic Leadership & Planning

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders across the business to align priorities.
  • Lead and implement overall strategic planning process for the Supply business, bringing together external awareness with internal strengths and business vision to build short and long-term strategies for the business.
  • Partner with senior leadership team on the Supply Business A3 (a methodology for driving continuous improvement), ensuring the application of Lean principles and A3 problem-solving techniques across the business.
  • Lead key critical strategic initiatives that drive profitable growth for the business collaborating closely with teams across the organization to ensure effective execution of strategy and growth initiatives.
  • Develop and manage standard work for strategy process and strategic initiatives with clear metrics and deliverables.
  • Develop and monitor key performance metrics (KPIs) to evaluate the performance of sales, marketing, and operations against strategic goals.
  • Responsible for socializing the strategic plan and driving clear metrics around how we are advancing business proactively.
  • Collect and analyze data on business development opportunities including segment overview, market dynamics, competitive assessment, etc.
  • Analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape to drive strategic decision-making and identify new business opportunities.

Growth Projects & Initiatives

  • Lead and oversee key growth projects and initiatives to expand the business, focusing on sustainable growth, market expansion, product development, competitive advantage, and service innovations.
  • Collaborate with product management, marketing, and operations teams to ensure alignment of growth initiatives with customer needs and market demands.

Candidate Profile/Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in engineering or a business discipline. MBA preferred
  • At least 7 years of leadership experience in strategy and business development, sales, or product management/marketing.
  • Prior experience leading and facilitating strategy formulation processes and tools.
  • Knowledge and experience working within a manufacturing or retail-based business operating systems with emphasis on LEAN tools and principles.
  • Knowledge of the HVAC distribution and sales network, and internal operations, is a plus
