Job description

This management role is responsible for leading a portfolio of diverse technology applications and a team of full‑stack developers experienced in developing software solutions using AI, web, mobile, distributed microservices, cloud services, and other emerging technologies. The individual in this role is expected to stay on top of technology trends, experimenting with and learning new technologies, and participating in internal and external technology communities. This role plays a key part in advancing enterprise AI capabilities by delivering safe, scalable, and high‑impact AI‑enabled software solutions across clinical, operational, and administrative domains.

Job Description:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities including but not limited to:  

1. Provides technical leadership by translating business objectives into application and AI‑enabled solutions to align with business needs. 

2. Leads the design and development of software features and architectural decisions, balancing trade‑offs across hybrid cloud, cloud‑native, and AI‑enabled technologies while ensuring robustness, scalability, performance, and fault tolerance. 

3. Leads and performs hands‑on design, development, and delivery of Proof‑of‑Concept (POC) projects to validate new technologies and solution approaches, including applied AI, machine learning, and GenAI use cases. 

4. Leads the design, development, and production deployment of software solutions, including GenAI and machine‑learning‑driven applications, from concept through operationalization. 

5. Conducts design and code reviews to ensure standards of compliance and adoption of modern application development practices, including AI engineering, model integration, and secure data usage patterns. 

6. Guides teams through all phases of the software development lifecycle, ensuring high‑quality design, development, testing, deployment, and post‑production support for both traditional and AI‑enabled applications. 

7. Resolves escalated cross‑team issues and removes technical blockers related to on‑premise and cloud infrastructure, data pipelines, security, model deployment, or application performance. 

8. Partners closely with Architecture teams to implement reference architectures, cloud best practices, GenAI and LLM adoption patterns (e.g., RAG, agent workflows, secure prompt orchestration), and enterprise architecture vision across on‑premise, AWS, Azure, and GCP. 

9. Partners with DevOps, Infrastructure, and Security teams to develop tooling and frameworks that achieve full‑stack automation, improve CI/CD and MLOps maturity, and drive operational excellence across on‑premise and cloud environments. 

10. Leads troubleshooting, technical investigations, and operational response during incidents and outages, ensuring rapid restoration and root‑cause resolution, including AI and model‑related failures. 

11. Develops strong working relationships with team members through regular 1:1s, coaching, and career development planning, building long‑term capability in cloud, AI, GenAI, and full‑stack engineering disciplines. 

12. Has the authority to direct and support employees’ daily work activities. Has direct responsibility for hiring termination, corrective action, and performance reviews. 

 

Minimum Qualifications: 

Education: 

Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field required. 

Licensure, Certification & Registration: 

Experience: 

  • 8+ years related work experience 

  • 4+ years of hands-on software development experience 

  • 2+ years of leadership/management experience 

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities: 

  • Decision Making: Ability to make decisions with significant, broad implications for cloud‑based systems, AI‑enabled solutions, and operational reliability across multiple departments. Contributes to overall organizational strategy and technology direction. 

  • Problem Solving: Ability to address highly varied and complex issues involving cloud platforms, AI‑driven workflows, and large‑scale systems. Uses innovative, data‑driven, and Lean diagnostic techniques to resolve non‑recurring technical and operational challenges. 

  • Independence of Action: Ability to set goals and priorities for AI, cloud, and operational initiatives. Makes recommendations on policies, practices, and programs that strengthen system scalability, security, and reliability, with direction provided through broad organizational guidance. 

  • Written Communications: Ability to communicate complex information in English effectively in writing to all levels of staff, management and external customers across functional areas. 

  • Oral Communications: Ability to verbally communicate complex concepts in English and address sensitive situations, resolve conflicts, negotiate, motivate and persuade others. 

  • Knowledge: Demonstrates in‑depth knowledge of AI technologies, cloud architectures, secure computing practices, and operational frameworks, with the ability to apply this expertise in complex and varied situations. 

  • Teamwork: Ability to lead collaborative, cross‑functional teams on large AI, cloud, and operational projects both within and outside the Medical Center. Results have meaningful impact on the management and operations of multiple organizational areas. 

  • Customer Service: Ability to lead operational initiatives to meet or exceed customer service standards and expectations in assigned units) and/or across multiple areas in a timely and respectful 

Preferred Qualifications & Skills: 

  • Experience designing and delivering AI, machine learning, and GenAI solutions. 

  • Knowledge of cloud and hybrid architectures across AWS, Azure, and GCP. 

  • Proven ability to lead full‑stack software development and modern SDLC practices, including CI/CD and MLOps. 

  • Demonstrated leadership skills in guiding engineering teams, resolving technical issues, and collaborating across Architecture, DevOps, Infrastructure, and Security. 

Pay Range:

$155,000.00 USD - $185,000.00 USD

The pay range listed for this position is the annual base salary range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law.
