Overview / Responsibilities

Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions, Inc. is seeking an Environmental Risk Assessor with at least 8 years of experience to support our risk assessment and toxicology practice.

We are seeking an experienced risk assessor to collaborate with our current team of risk assessment professionals in project planning and execution. Risk assessments will be prepared to meet the requirements of provincial and federal frameworks.

The ideal candidate would work closely with our team in the Cambridge, Ontario area while also being part of the larger operations across Canada.  Wood offers the opportunity and flexibility to balance work in the office and from home.  

Key Responsibilities

The position will involve coordination and implementation of project work associated with multimedia (air, water, and soil) risk assessments and environmental regulatory compliance. This position offers the opportunity to work with a diverse team of engineers and scientists to address environmental challenges executing the following roles/ responsibilities:

  • Directs and supervises technical assignments and manage entire projects or specific elements of projects;
  • Perform as lead risk assessor authoring proposals and projects;
  • Client and regulator interaction experience, particularly with scoping of risk assessments and application of the risk assessment results and conclusions in site decision-making;
  • Provide technical review for projects to comply with environmental regulations, company standards, contract requirements, and related specifications; and
  • Occasional travel for projects, conferences, business development, or training. 
Skills / Qualifications
  • University degree in toxicology, environmental sciences with a chemistry or biology concentration or related field.  M.Sc. is preferred.
  • Must be a self-starter, detail-oriented, and team-oriented, with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency in MS Office; aptitude for MS Excel spreadsheets and functions
  • 8+ years relevant experience in conducting, authoring, directing, and conducting technical review of risk assessments with increasing levels of project complexity and responsibility.
  • Ability to provide input into environmental site assessment requirements and risk management measures.
  • Experience with the mining industry is preferred
  • Class G driver's license and access to a vehicle.
