The major function of this position is:

To be a dedicated resource for the Company's global tax compliance, reporting, planning, and accounting responsibilities for the Company and its subsidiary entities. Areas of responsibility will include all tax types including income, sales & use, VAT, GST, IVA, franchise, and property. Additional areas of responsibility include assistance with tax audits, involvement in tax planning, and operational understanding of transactional tax information systems. Additional functions include tax research, continual process improvement, and participation in or leadership of other projects within the dynamic environment of the organization.

Salary Range: $70,000 to $82,000

The essential responsibilities and duties of this position are:

  • Ensure the completion of sales and use tax reporting (monthly, quarterly, and annually). Review monthly data used in tax return preparation and approve filings.

  • Prepare the detailed federal income tax computation, including calculation of book/tax differences and all supporting work papers.

  • Serve as a resource for preparing or overseeing the tax compliance and procedures of all Maui Jim companies across all tax types and tax jurisdictions.

  • Assist in calculating quarterly income tax estimated payments both international and domestic. Prepare income tax extensions.

  • Possess a strong knowledge of the tax requirements of accounting for fixed assets. Review all tax aspects of fixed asset accounting.

  • Responsible for procedures surrounding tax account reconciliations and any related journal entries.

  • Assist with all worldwide tax audits. Handle communication with auditors and oversee the collection and preparation of audit support data. Represent the company's interests in a way that promotes integrity and honesty.

  • Work collaboratively with the Director of Global Taxes to manage relationships with outsourced service providers both international and domestic. Serve as internal tax resource for other departments and individuals within the organization.

  • Understand the company's transfer pricing strategy and processes. Assist as required with the implementation of these processes.

  • Understand the company's ERP processes, business processes and system generated data required for the preparation of worldwide tax filings.

  • Work with the IT department and software vendors to ensure successful tax software implementations and upgrades. Troubleshoot issues and test potential solutions.

  • Work with internal resources to create policies and standard procedures supporting the development of workflows and training of employees within the department and in the field. Continually review processes and identify new solutions to minimize the Company's exposures surrounding tax compliance.

  • Stay informed of tax law/regulatory changes in all countries where the Company conducts business or plans to open operations. Expand knowledge to effectively address the Company's changing business needs. Attend applicable conferences, seminars, webcasts, etc. Investigate and analyze areas of risk or uncertainty. Perform research and document conclusions and recommendations as appropriate. Work with the financial management team to develop strategies to address these areas that appropriately balance compliance, exposure and internal/external resources.

  • Complete other special projects and work at the request of management or other personnel.

Desired Qualifications:As a guide, indicated below is the preferred education and experience for this position:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting 3-5 years accounting and tax experience

  • Fixed asset software experience (BNA Fixed Assets, Fixed Asset CS, or similar)

  • CPA preferred, but not required

  • Indirect tax experience a plus

  • International tax experience a plus

  • SAP or other ERP system experience a plus
