Job description

Salem Media Washington, DC/Philadelphia is seeking a full-time Promotions Director. Salem Media of DC/Philadelphia operates five total local radio stations: WAVA AM, WAVA FM and WWRC AM in the DC Metro and WFIL AM and WNTP AM in the Philadelphia metro.  Additionally 1 national radio station: SiriusXM 131 Family Talk operates out of the DC market. We also operate the corresponding radio station websites and work with many additional digital platforms/tools with Salem Surround Digital. The Promotions Director reports to the General Manager, and works closely with the Programming Department and Sales Team.


  • Create digital graphics such as web banners and social media posts
  • Planning and executing “major” radio promotions like WAVA’s Pastor’s Equip Conference
  • Writing regular promotional liners
  • Writing copy for the station Web site
  • Creating content/images for our Web sites
  • Writing copy for Email blasts
  • Understanding FCC rules and regulations when executing on-air and web based contests/promotions
  • Maintaining accurate and detailed calendars of upcoming events/projects
  • Attending sales calls
  • Nights and weekends occasionally required. 

Successful candidates will be extremely organized, possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, and know how to multi-task and prioritize. Experience in event marketing is ideal. People skills are key. The position requires constant interaction with our Sales and Management Teams. The Director will interact with clients and listeners and must be able to meet the very different needs of each “customer.”

In addition, these skills are a must: • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook.  Experience using Adobe Photoshop, Publisher and PowerPoint, or similar software required.
