Job description

The position of Director of Engineering Services is a senior-level role that involves overseeing the engineering services strategy and team within an organization. This role requires a combination of technical acumen, leadership skills, and strategic planning to ensure successful delivery of engineering services to our clients. The Director of Engineering Services is responsible for guiding teams, managing resources, and driving innovation to meet organizational goals. This position plays a critical role in liaising between executive management and operations teams, ensuring alignment with the company's vision and objectives. In this position, you will be required to build and maintain long-term relationships; be involved with marketing/BD, operations, and program development teams to attract new clients and maintain existing clients across HPM's footprint. The Director of Engineering Services may oversee the full scope of projects including design management, project delivery and project performance/profitability. In this role you may be required to travel up to 30% of the time.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the engineering team, providing guidance and support to ensure project success. Recruit, mentor, and develop engineering talent within the team.
  • Develop and implement engineering strategies and plans that align with organizational goals.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols.
  • Collaborate with other departments to integrate engineering solutions into broader company initiatives.
  • Manage budgets and resource allocation for engineering projects.
  • Evaluate and improve engineering processes and methodologies.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in engineering technology and incorporate relevant innovations.
  • Participate in meetings with stakeholders and executive management.
  • Meet with clients to review engineering needs and prepare options for owner review and direction.
  • Analyze design requirements, specifications, and performance requirements to determine the best and most appropriate designs to meet customer expectations, code requirements, and all life and safety considerations.
  • Determine feasibility of designing new facility engineering systems or modifying existing systems considering cost, available space, time limitations, company planning, and other technical factors.
  • Provide technical information concerning advantages and limitations which affect long range facilities and space planning.
  • Confer openly and directly in a respectful and professional manner with colleagues to clarify or resolve problems and develop designs.
  • Prepare or direct preparation of calculations and designs.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Professional engineering license (PE) or equivalent certification required.
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field
  • 10+ years of experience in engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
  • Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale engineering projects.
  • Strong understanding of modern engineering practices and technologies
  • Excellent communication and people skills
  • Proven fiscal accountability and responsibility, and an understanding of market forces pertaining to fees, scope and schedule requirements.
  • Familiarity with regulatory standards and compliance requirements
  • Valid Drivers License required
