Job description

Summary

The Manager of Packaging Quality & Regulatory will lead the Quality team at FusionPKG (the full-pack and turnkey division of Aptar Group in NA) to deliver high-quality service to the company's cosmetic partners. Head of Quality Regulatory will provide uncompromising attention to detail, solving and managing quality issues for packaging and beauty lab production orders. Quality issues are problems attributed to a product order that has already been verified and to a production order that has not met the previously agreed-upon quality requirements set by the factory, FusionPKG, or the customer. The Manager of Packaging Quality & Regulatory will be responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance for packaging manufacturing.

 

Position Relationships

This position reports to the General Manager and has the US Quality and Packaging Regulatory staff reporting to you. This role works primarily and directly with the FusionPKG engineering, development, project managers, China and Mexico engineering, Mexico and China quality, Turnkey Contract Manufacturers, sales, and account manager teams to identify the root cause of a production quality issue and help the factory, FusionPKG, and the customer bring to market high-quality products. This position will also work with China and Mexico engineering and operations to ensure the required regulatory documentation is provided.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the swift improvement of quality issues on production orders for package and formula orders
  • Responsible for developing strategic planning, direction, and control of US quality activities
  • Responsible for developing strategic planning, direction, and control of the Packaging Regulatory
  • Develop and implement continual quality process improvements annually
  • Responsible for annual Quality audits following ISO 22716 guidelines of Contract Manufacturers of turnkey production
  • Responsible for overseeing the commercialization and scale-up of turnkey formulations at Contract Manufacturers
  • Responsible for Regulatory compliance for packaging manufactured at partner facilities
  • Develop, coach, and mentor the team to excellence
  • Provides leadership for documented and repeatable processes in quality
  • Support FusionPKG Sales by meeting with our customer base to support quality issues
  • Ensure the optimal team resources to meet package and formula quality issue requirements
  • Resolves customer issues by communicating directly with customers
  • Leads or participates in other assigned projects
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in quality, packaging engineering, or other related fields from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 15 years in a technical packaging support position in cosmetics, beauty packaging or related CPG environment with at least 7 years in a leadership role
  • Intermediate experience with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to use or learn Salesforce.com software
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally for quality issues

Work Environment and Physical Demands

The work environment and physical demands are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate in an office setting, and when at an external partner's factory facility could be higher but within acceptable working conditions.

The employee is frequently required to be in a stationary position and regularly use the computer keyboard and mouse and will view the computer monitor frequently. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with their hands. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel or crouch. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
