Job description

At GFiber, we believe that great internet has the power to drive innovation, strengthen communities, enable the impossible, and do all the everyday things that make all of our world go round. And the job of creating better internet is never done - so we're growing! Our team is committed to building a place where people who want to make a difference can grow their careers and find their spot to belong.
GFiber is an Alphabet company that brings Google Fiber and Google Fiber Webpass internet services to homes and businesses across the United States. Our teams are expanding as we connect more cities and people to exceptional internet.
The application window will be open until at least June 16, 2026 . This opportunity will remain online based on business needs which may be before or after the specified date.
Role Description:
We are looking for a high-energy technical leader who thrives at the intersection of long-term strategy and hands-on engineering excellence. You will oversee the evolution of our core, aggregation, and access networks, in combination with the SW stack, ensuring that GFiber remains the gold standard for speed and reliability in an increasingly competitive ISP landscape and its interaction as well as its integration with the technology stack BSS/OSS. To lead Network Architecture at GFiber, you must bridge the gap between physical hardware and the digital platforms that manage it. This role is as much about software-defined ecosystems as it is about networks.
In this role, you'll:
  • Define the long-term architecture roadmap (3-5 years) in alignment with overall GFiber business goals (e.g., market expansion, new product launches).
  • Establish architecture standards, governance models, and design principles for the entire Technology ecosystem with E2E focus on the Network/TechStack
  • Lead the technical evaluation and "make-vs-buy" decisions for major platform components including NW and tools, setting the budget and technology direction.
  • Act as the high-level technical liaison to executive leadership and business stakeholders

At a minimum we'd like you to have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience in network engineering and BSS/OSS technologies.
  • Experience in IP networking (BGP, OSPF, MPLS), optical transport, and access networks (PON/Wireless).
  • Experience managing and architecting complex software solutions in Telecommunications or for an Internet Service Provider.
  • Experience in Cloud Platformnetworking, including VPC design and interconnect for managing hybrid environments.

It's preferred if you have:
  • 5 years of experience in software development.
  • Experience with Software Defined Networking (SDN) and network automation (Python, Go, or similar).
  • Experience managing complex, hybrid infrastructure-such as combined fiber and wireless networks-at a multi-regional or national scale.
  • Strategic thinking ability to build not just for today, but to anticipate where the industry will be in 5-10 years and build the rails to get there.
  • Communication skill to translate complex "packet-speak" into clear business logic for executive leadership.
  • Cross-functional leadership ability to leverage AI to solve the complexities of massive-scale fiber operations.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is between $260,000 - $286,000 + bonus + cash award + benefits. As pay varies by location, your recruiter will share more about the specific salary range for your targeted location during the hiring process.
