Job description

ANNOUNCEMENT & PURPOSE OF POSITION Pottawattamie County Conservation is announcing the hiring of a seasonal Chair Lift Operator Lead. This is a seasonal position that runs from November through March, or the duration of the ski season. An individual in this position is responsible for supervision and operation of a chair lift and assisting guests in getting safely on and off the chair lift.

Supervise Chairlift Operators and Attendants under the supervision of site manager and their delegates. Perform safety and daily log sheet tasks. Meet the expectations of guests, while keeping guest safety a priority.

Maintain snow surface at loading and unloading areas as needed. Don't miss out on the adventures at Crescent Hill at Hitchcock this winter.   ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Supervise chairlift operations including personnel and preparation for daily operation.

Assist in scheduling and monitoring schedule of lift operators and attendants. Schedule and follow thru with break schedule for all lift operations personnel. Supervise and assist in the proper setup of ramps including maze gates, signage, and lighting to help facilitate crowd flow in and orderly fashion.

Supervise and assist in preparing loading and unloading ramps both before the lift opens for guests and after it's closed. Dress accordingly to be able to perform job duties all day in and outdoor environment during the winter months. Supervise and assist in the correct procedures for starting, slowing, and stopping the chairlift.

Ability to make very quick decisions for safe operations for guests. Supervise and assist Parking lot attendants including training and monitoring the parking lot during busy times. Must be polite and helpful to all guests regardless of their ski/snowboard ability level.

Work in other departments when needed. Perform other duties as assigned. Work as a team and can foster a positive, fun, and safe work environment.

Perform other duties as directed or as the situation dictates. ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND ABILITY General knowledge of skiing and snowboarding as well as a chair lift. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Ability to understand and follow both oral and written instructions. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and good rapport with individuals of all ages including supervisors, colleagues, children, and the public. ESSENTIAL EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION AND/OR LICENSES Must be eighteen (18) years old at the time of hire.

Must be reliable, punctual and have own transportation. Must be able to work in a cold environment for extended periods of time. Flexibility to work during evenings, weekends, and holidays.
