Job description

The Director, Legal AI & Practice Transformation leads the Firm's efforts to implement AI-driven legal processes and modernize how legal services are delivered.
This role is responsible for identifying, designing, and scaling practical AI and technology solutions that improve legal operations, enhance client service delivery, and drive measurable business impact. A core priority is moving the Firm beyond experimentation and pilots toward sustainable, operationally embedded AI capabilities across legal practice groups.
The Director partners closely with lawyers, business stakeholders, and technical teams to redesign processes, implement scalable solutions, and ensure successful adoption within the day-to-day practice of law.
Reporting to the Chief Strategy and Innovation Officer, the Director works collaboratively with Practice Group Leaders, Practice Development, Knowledge Management, Enterprise Applications, Risk, Information Security, Procurement, and Learning & Development to support the Firm's broader legal transformation strategy.
Responsibilities
Leadership
  • Work with the Chief Strategy and Innovation Officer to help develop and execute the Firm's legal AI and practice transformation strategy.
  • Lead, develop, and mentor a high-performing team focused on legal AI, workflow transformation, and practice innovation initiatives across the Firm.
  • Build effective working relationships across legal, business, and technology teams to drive alignment, execution, and operational adoption of AI-enabled solutions.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, experimentation, collaboration, and continuous improvement across the Firm's legal transformation efforts.
  • Represent the Firm in select external forums related to legal AI, emerging technologies, and practice transformation, and apply relevant market insights to the Firm's strategy and operations.

Practice Innovation
  • Collaborate with lawyers, client teams, and business stakeholders to identify operational pain points and high-value AI use cases across legal practices.
  • Redesign legal workflows and service delivery processes to improve efficiency, consistency, scalability, and client value.
  • Lead the implementation and operational scaling of AI-enabled solutions, ensuring initiatives move beyond pilots into sustainable day-to-day use within legal practice groups.
  • Develop repeatable operating models, governance approaches, and adoption strategies that enable successful integration of AI into legal work.
  • Establish metrics and operational KPIs to evaluate adoption, efficiency gains, and business impact, and continuously refine solutions based on results and user feedback.

AI Adoption & Workflow Enablement
  • Develop practical enablement approaches that help lawyers and client teams successfully adopt AI-supported processes within day-to-day legal practice.
  • Design and deliver user guidance, training materials, and adoption support resources that encourage effective and responsible use of AI tools within legal service delivery.
  • Gather user feedback and adoption insights to help refine enablement strategies, improve usability, and support continuous enhancement of AI-integrated processes.

Governance, Risk, and Compliance
  • Partner with Risk, Information Security, and relevant legal teams to ensure AI-enabled workflows align with Firm policies, client confidentiality requirements, and regulatory obligations.
  • Coordinate risk and security reviews for new tools and capabilities, ensuring solutions are operationally sustainable and appropriately governed.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate combines:
  • a strong understanding of how legal work is performed in practice;
  • systems and process thinking;
  • strong operational rigor and execution capability;
  • product or workflow ownership instincts;
  • practical fluency with AI-enabled workflows and technologies, including LLMs and automation tools; and
  • the ability to build credibility across legal, business, and technical stakeholders.
