Information Systems (IS) Consultant

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in Texas public education administrative computer software, processing, accounting, computer networks & servers, and PEIMS within the last 5 years required.
  • The IS Consultant must possess the voice, temperament, and emotions to constantly maintain good public relations with clients and a positive attitude toward teaming with and helping other staff.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The IS Consultant for Student Services, shall be directly responsible to the Director of Information Systems. Through the installation and support of computer services, the IS Consultant shall assist districts with the utilization of data for instructional improvement and administrative decision making.
  • Plan, develop, conduct, and/or facilitate staff development activities for introducing and demonstrating innovative techniques and methods.
  • Collaboratively plan, develop and/or facilitate long-range instructional staff development programs across ESC teams for ESC (Education Service Center) and LEA's (Local Education Agencies).
  • Actively participate as a member of the ESC/LEA team and within the appropriate Professional Learning Community (PLC).
  • Assist with compiling, analyzing, and/or interpreting data, such as student performance in relation to state standards and program evaluation, to attain program excellence.
  • Secure the aid of resource persons and consultants to supplement and enrich programs of local
  • Assist with the development of procedures for evaluating the effectiveness of service center programs and recommend modifications as needed to attain ESC goals.
  • Keep abreast of current instructional practices and techniques, professional literature, and state and federal regulations related to job responsibilities.

  • Manage the operation of Information Systems' local area networks and networks of participating
  • Assist LEAs in the identification of appropriate data which relate to their existing
  • Provide an awareness of existing Information Systems services as related to LEA

  • Assist LEAs in planning for accurate TSDS PEIMS data submissions and Core Collections.
  • Assist LEAs in planning for acquisition of appropriate hardware and software which promote organized and efficient work environments.
  • Provide training, instruction, and technical support to enhance the utilization of appropriate Information Systems services and related technologies.
  • Assist local education agencies with collecting, editing and submitting their PEIMS data and Core Collections to the Texas Education Agency in a timely manner.
  • Assist local education agencies with resolving problems associated with Information Systems applications software. When an-in-house solution is not available, submit a problem report.
