Job description

Duties

Major duties include but are not limited to:

  • Demonstrates proficiency in content management, application support, system optimization, data management, business and partnership management, and change management.
  • Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams, including program and service leaders, to support informatics initiatives.
  • Establishes and maintains effective relationships with VA staff at all levels nationwide.
  • Implements and supports patient safety policies and systems in alignment with National Center for Patient Safety (NCPS) guidelines.
  • Develops, maintains, and operates patient safety processes at the facility, including participation in Root Cause Analyses.
  • Applies healthcare management principles in supporting and directing healthcare delivery systems.
  • Performs duties that contribute to the administrative management of healthcare delivery systems.
  • Applies advanced clinical knowledge to guide staff in planning, decision-making, and evaluating outcomes beyond the immediate setting.
  • Develops recommendations and strategies to resolve complex issues, providing leadership and direction for stakeholders.
  • Utilizes best practice evidence and research findings to inform nursing informatics practice decisions at the unit, team, or workgroup level.

  • Prior RN experience working with patient safety and systems for entering patient safety reports
