Job description

  • Position Summary
    • This person will report to the Director, IS Applications, and be accountable for the continuing development, effectiveness and adoption of information technology, including computer equipment and software. Responsible for bridging the gap s of key functional areas such as process reliability, LEAN and improvement teams, regulatory performance improvement, quality metrics and , patient safety and clinical transformation from an applications and implementation perspective. The candidate will provide education and consultation on IT related process redesign and measurement for Physician and Clinical users to include medical staff, management, co-workers, and senior leadership as part of the quality improvement process.The position interfaces with all hospital departments, medical staff and community to assure IT tools are utilized in compliance with hospital standards, policies, and procedures as well as regulatory requirements. This includes providing a planned, systematic, organization wide approach to identifying, designing, measuring, prioritizing and monitoring all information utilization for quality management activities including new processes and services.The Clinical Informaticist should possess expert knowledge of existing nursing standards of care, laws associated with clinicians providing specific levels of care or existing hospital protocols and medical staff bylaws. The candidate maintains current knowledge of IT systems and advises medical community and clinical leaders on state-of-the-art trends in clinical IT. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with all customers to include providing training on current and new technology as appropriate. . The chosen candidate will be a content expert on software application performance improvement and will have a proven track record in developing, implementing, and managing systems that support large scale improvement programs, and experience leading clinical improvement activities in a highly integrated health delivery system.

    • Evaluates current use of Meditech applications and facilitates application adoption in new areas. Maintains a matrix of each Division and Department an their use of Meditech and IT. Influences Directors as appropriate to increase System and departmental use of Meditech and provides tools for identifying GAPS.
    • Maintains expert knowledge of organizational need and industry trends in IT through membership on, or consultation to, committees, workgroups, or task forces as needed to communicate and facilitate the ongoing progress of the development, implementation and revision of clinical information systems. Demonstrates a thorough understanding of clinical practice and documentation requirements as required by Regulatory bodies and system requirements. Participates in all software implementation and Meditech upgrades.
    • Assists managers with training and monitoring of complete and accurate caregiver documentation in the system to assure quality patient care and regulatory compliance. Maintains records to ensure development of clinical documentation needs/modifications are met in a timely manner. Ensures documentation design is developed and built to support national ALOS, CMS requirements, MU requirements and other regulatory entities.
    • Attends and actively participates in required meetings. Attends offsite training opportunities and abides by administrative policy guidelines. Provides all required documentation.
