Director Of Financial Operations Jobs in Minnesota

The Director of Financial Operations is responsible for providing both strategic and hands-on leadership of the accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash management functions. This role serves as a primary business relationship manager for financing partners and key service providers while driving automation, process optimization, and technology-enabled transformation across the Company's accounts payable, accounts receivable and treasury operations. The position partners closely with the CFO and Controller to improve working capital performance, strengthen financial controls, optimize liquidity management, and build scalable processes that support the Company's growth objectives. This role will be hybrid out of our Lakeville, MN Corporate office:  3 days per week in office and 2 days remote.

Job Responsibilities

• Oversee the accounts payable process, including invoice processing, payment administration, vendor management, and expense controls. Ensure timely and accurate vendor payments and strong supplier relationships. Implement controls and procedures that improve compliance, accuracy, and efficiency. Manage vendor onboarding and governance processes.
• Oversee the accounts receivable process, including customer account management, collections, and cash application processes. Drive improvements in cash collections and reductions in Days Sales Outstanding (DSO). Partner with sales to resolve disputes and improve collection outcomes. Ensure effective credit and collections policies and procedures.
• Lead, develop, coach, and retain high-performing members of the AP and AR teams. Establish performance standards, accountability measures, and development plans. Foster a culture of continuous improvement, service excellence, and operational discipline. Lead organizational change initiatives related to process improvement and technology adoption.
• Serve as the primary relationship manager with the Company's bank related to treasury management services. Manage employee access to online treasury services. Monitor cash collections, disbursements, and working capital trends to improve cash flow forecasting and maintain compliance with financing agreements. Evaluate and recommend banking products and treasury services that enhance efficiency, improve controls, reduce costs, and mitigate risk.
• Oversee and manage relationships with key AR and AP service providers, including merchant services, credit monitoring, collection agencies, and other outsourced service providers. Establish service level expectations and key performance indicators and monitor performance against agreed-upon standards. Ensure service providers meet the Company’s requirements related to controls, compliance, cybersecurity, data protection, and business continuity.
• Lead initiatives to increase electronic payment adoption, automate cash application, improve vendor payment methods, and enhance overall cash management capabilities. Support the CFO in evaluating strategic opportunities related to treasury management, payment technologies, banking relationships, and financial operations transformation.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervision of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivables teams
Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field
• MBA, CPA or other advanced certification preferred
• Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive AP/AR, shared services, or broader accounting and/or finance operations experience
• 5+ years of leadership experience managing large AP, AR or shared services teams
• Experience in a business that manages inventory across multiple locations, preferably in a B2B environment with a high volume of customers

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, employment policies, operating instructions, and procedural manuals.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and change-management skills
• Demonstrated success leading a process transformation – implementing automation, new systems or significant redesign in AP and/or AR
• Experience managing banking relationships and treasury/cash management functions related to AR/AP
• Experience with ERP systems and AP/AR automation tools
• Strong understanding of internal controls and segregation of duties
• Demonstrated ability to train, mentor, and develop personnel
• Advanced skills in using Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables
• Knowledgeable in using Microsoft Outlook, Word, Teams, and Copilot
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to effectively work with others throughout the organization
• Must be flexible, open-minded, self-motivated and able to work independently
• Excellent English communication skills, including reading, writing, and verbal communication.

Work Environment
Work is typically performed in an office environment. Work will typically be performed Monday through Friday. Working more than 40 hours per workweek may be required.
