Primary Purpose:
Provide guidance to students, teachers, campus administrators, or families within a multi-tiered system of support (MTSS), including diffusing disruptive student behavior and facilitating student refocus on classroom activities.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor's degree in education or related field required
Master's degree in education or related field preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of laws, policies, and regulations related to MTSS, student discipline and behavioral interventions/modifications
Ability to assist teachers, campus administrators, and parents/guardians in developing and implementing effective behavior intervention plans for students
Ability to monitor and adjust intervention plans
Strong organizational, communication (written and oral), and interpersonal skills
Experience:
Two years' experience working with children required, preferably in an educational setting.
Previous experience coaching or training adults preferred.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
  1. Assist with the implementation, monitoring and assessment of the campus multi-tiered system of support.
  2. Collaborate with campus administrators, teachers and support staff to address factors impeding student compliance with schoolwide expectations.
  3. Provide targeted or individualized support to students demonstrating severely disruptive or unsafe behaviors in the classroom. As appropriate, assist in the development and monitoring of behavioral intervention plans. Facilitate the behavioral threat assessment process in collaboration with other designated staff. Recommend changes as needed.
  4. Facilitate staff training related to social-emotional learning, trauma-informed or restorative practices, de-escalation strategies, threat assessment and other MTSS topics. As needed, model or demonstrate effective strategies in classrooms.
  5. Participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings and special events as directed.
  6. Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy.
  7. Maintain confidentiality.
  8. Perform other duties as assigned by the principal in alignment with MTSS guidelines and contributing to overall campus safety.
