Job description

WNCSource is seeking a visionary, strategic, and results-driven Development Director to lead our financial growth and deepen our community impact.

As a vital member of our executive leadership team, you will shape and execute all aspects of fundraising, donor stewardship, grant acquisition, and strategic marketing. The ideal candidate will blend a passion for community impact with a sophisticated understanding of donor cultivation, transforming milestones into meaningful, lasting support for the individuals and families we serve.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Fundraising: Design and execute a comprehensive annual development plan targeting individual donors, corporate sponsors, and foundations.

Donor Cultivation & Stewardship: Build meaningful, long-term relationships with existing donors while actively prospecting new supporters.

Grant Management: Oversee the end-to-end grant process, including research, proposal writing, compliance, and reporting.

Marketing & Communications: Direct marketing campaigns and brand messaging to elevate organizational visibility across Western North Carolina.

Team Leadership: Manage and mentor development staff, establishing clear performance metrics and fostering a collaborative team culture.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education & Experience (Either Combination):

Option A: Bachelorโ€™s Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field, plus a minimum of 3 years of management experience.

Option B: Masterโ€™s Degree in Business, Public Administration, Social Science, or a related field.

Core Track Record:

At least 3 years of dedicated professional fundraising and development experience.

Demonstrated success in securing major gifts, leading capital or annual campaigns, and writing winning grant proposals.
