Job description

The Director of Customer Analytics will shape Customer Strategy by leveraging advanced analytics to influence decision-making across product and marketing. This leader drives customer performance through actionable, future-focused insights that guide senior cross-functional partners. This role provides strategic leadership to a team responsible for translating complex data into clear strategies, measurable outcomes, and recommendations. Exceptional communication skills are essential to align executives and stakeholders around insight-driven decisions. The Director also plays a key role in developing and mentoring talent to build the next generation of analytics leaders.
This role supports the VSI + Beauty business units by serving as a strategic connector between analytics teams and brand and marketing partners. The Director oversees the review of customer, basket, and business performance ensuring insights are translated into prioritized, high-impact strategies that advance brand and business objectives. This position champions insight adoption, balances competing priorities and guides the organization through a structured approach to evaluation, alignment and execution.
Responsibilities:
Shape and refine enterprise-level understanding of the intersection of business and customer, directly influence strategic priorities across VSI + Beauty and supporting functions such as Marketing, Merchandising, Planning, and Digital.
Set the long-term analytics vision by proactively aligning predictive and prescriptive analytics to enterprise strategic decisions and multi-year roadmap.
Oversee and standardize analytics and visualization frameworks; evaluate tools that scale.
Deliver and guide the development of insights, ensuring clarity and strategic alignment for Executive Level audiences.
Provide leadership oversight for the team, ensuring resources, direction and structure in a fast-paced, high-impact role.
Coach others within the team, develop future organizational leaders by driving a culture of insight-to-action, strategic thinking and data-driven decision making.
Set and approve learning agendas for teams, ensuring alignment with enterprise priorities and innovation strategy.
Keep up-to-date on emerging trends, technologies, and companies that are impacting retail analytics and anticipate their long-term implications for future strategy.
Support the assessment and incubation of new analytical tools as appropriate.
Demonstrate a strong sense of urgency in all deliverables with accountability and high-quality outputs.
Lead executive - level presentations with confidence and clarity, influencing senior executives and shaping key strategic decisions.
Demonstrate expertise in customer / market research and translate these insights into strategies that drive growth, personalization and competitive advantage.

Bachelor's degree in business, analytics, economics or related field; Master's degree (MBA or advanced analytics degree) a plus.
Proven ability to oversee a portfolio of initiatives and deliver strategic outcomes under accelerated timelines.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to influence and engage executives and cross-functional leadership teams.
Rigorous attention to detail combined with the ability to synthesize complex data into clear executive-level narratives.
High level of analytical and business curiosity
Flexible and creative problem solver capable of navigating ambiguity, removing organizational barriers, and driving strategic alignment.
Adaptable and a champion for change
Personal professionalism and sense of accountability demonstrated by a track record of delivering results, developing talent and modeling leadership behaviors.
10+ years professional experience in a business or analytical role, with strong Excel proficiency
4+ years of marketing and/or retail business a plus
4+ years of managerial experience
Experience with BI tools (e.g. Google Looker, Tableau, Power BI) preferred.
Experience with relational database analysis; proficiency in SQL and/or Python a plus.
