Job description

The Primo Healthcare Services' Dialysis Technicians are responsible for providing direct patient care compassionately, professionally, ethically, and knowledgeably. Direct patient care includes the performance of basic hemodialysis techniques and procedures, patient care, and observations under the direct supervision and guidance of a registered nurse. This position is responsible for dialyzing hemodialysis patients at the comfort of their HOMES at their desired time and schedule (Time and location will be given during the interview). PCT will also be responsible for staying and monitoring the whole treatment and ensuring patient is tolerating treatment well. PCT is also be responsible for bi-weekly/monhtly supply and inventory count. PCT must be well-versed and know how to operate the NXSTAGE Hemodialysis machine.

Education, Qualifications, and Credentials

  • CMS Dialysis Technician certification within 18 months of hire.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 1-year of experience as a Dialysis Technician.
  • Current CPR certification

Required Qualifications:

  • 1-year Dialysis Experience
  • NxStage Machine Trained/ Experience (Highly preferred)
  • Ability to work well independently

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides direct patient care including performing patient treatment from start to finish and handling daily operations between patients and dialysis machine
  • Responsible for NxStage maintenance related tasks
  • Responsible for pre-treatment, intra-treatment, and post-treatment monitoring
  • Responds to machine alarms according to established procedures
  • Responds to emergency situations with appropriate treatments as directed by the RN
  • Safely and competently access and cares for patient’s catheters, fistula, and grafts
  • Performs correct hand hygiene and infection control practices
  • Completes monthly and mid-monthly lab specimen and culture draws on time
  • Responsible for biweekly/monthly inventory and supply count (Soft Supplies and NxStage)
  • Documents all care delivered to the patient accordingly to established protocols
  • Follows and adheres to company missions, vision, and core values
  • Keeps track of patient schedules provided by company
