Position Summary
The Director of College Relations is responsible for the development and planning of College Relations including but not limited to- all aspects of external college relations, community engagement, marketing, media, publications, and advertising in accordance with the policies and strategic goals of the College to broaden BMCC's visibility and enhance recognition within the district. Responsible for the planning, development and production of all College marketing and media. Maintains a comprehensive and pro-active college-wide community interaction, marketing and media strategy. Performs consistently with the team-based model and actively participates as a member of assigned College teams and committees. Performs all functions and activities within the guidelines and philosophy set forth in the BMCC Mission, Vision, and Strategic Plan, as well as the BMCC Foundation Mission and Strategic Plan.
Essential Functions
This position reports directly to the College President/CEO. The Director of College Relations develops College media that serves marketing purposes. The Director works with other relevant departments on campus to help produce and promote the schedule of classes, college catalog, departmental brochures, e-newsletter, and other publications to ensure materials present a consistent image of excellence and quality and maintain the integrity of the BMCC brand. The Director of College Relations is responsible for the management, design, production and content, as needed, of College media and community relations efforts and materials.
Prepares and provides oversight of advertising budget, and authorizes spending in alignment with strategic priorities.
Prepares Requests for Proposals for printing and design services, and other functions for appropriate publications, and works with selected vendors to develop product.
Develops and maintains strong relationships with advertising representatives, and develops an annual advertising schedule and plan. Develops recommended strategy and arranges advertising designed to foster a positive image of the College.
Collaborates with all College departments, personnel to support and promote recruitment, retention and Instructional programs to facilitate new program rollout promotion and program specific promotional plans.
Manages the maintenance and updating of BMCC website and all social media pages, and the development of College social media policies.
Consults and collaborates with the Athletics Department to coordinate Athletic Department communications, news stories, social media management, marketing, and promotion.
Works with the President to provide consistent media relations. Serves as the secondary spokesperson should the College President not be available.
Has responsibility for the intra-campus newsletter, Timbertalk, including design, content, and publication.
Provides vision and strategy for all external community relations functions, including but not limited to parades, festivals, and related events. Collaborates with BMCC Foundation on Alumni Relations, and Fundraising opportunities.
Participate in continuous development of cultural competency to support effective relationships and the ability to design systems that are equitable.
Serve on college-wide committees as assigned.
Other Aspects of this Position
Must have a valid driver's license; travel is required, mostly within the College district. Some statewide travel for professional development may be necessary.
Entails a flexible work week, including evenings and weekends.
Ability to lift 30 pounds.

Ability to effectively manage time and projects, meet deadlines and strategically set priorities.
Ability to create and manage a budget for special projects as needed.
Ability to develop strong familiarity with BMCC programs and services.
Creativity, enthusiasm, high energy, and a sense of personal responsibility and accountability.
Ability to collaboratively, cooperatively, and effectively work with a variety of personalities and people from diverse backgrounds.
Ability to provide informal training/instruction to facilitate and/or lead both small and large groups/teams with their marketing plans.
Proficiency in using Microsoft Office and Access data base systems -or-possess the ability to learn selected programs.
Familiarity in Adobe Creative Suite programs, or possess the ability to learn such programs.
Understanding of new technologies, which may affect marketing/communication efforts.
Basic knowledge of the printing process, broadcast and digital media, layout and publication development, and photography.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or related field.
The College recognizes the value of skills and knowledge gained outside of formal higher education and paid employment. Applicants who do not meet minimum qualifications but present other qualifications or experience equivalent to those required will be considered and are encouraged to apply.
Three to five years of experience in communications, marketing, media development, or public information.
Preferred Experience
Bilingual (Spanish/English) speaking, reading, and writing ability.
This is a full time Exempt Technical position with excellent benefits including: Medical, dental, vision, life, accidental death & dismemberment, and long term disability insurance; Paid holidays; Sick leave; Vacation; and Tuition waiver for employee and qualified dependents.
Pay: $69,000 - $81,000
