Job description

Transform Lives Through Communication in Milwaukee - Step into Your Role as a Speech Language Pathologist
Overview
Have you considered how your newfound career path could empower voices - quite literally? As a Speech Language Pathologist in the vibrant pulse of Milwaukee, your role will extend beyond mere remediation of speech and swallowing disorders. You will have the profound ability to unlock potential, restore self-assurance, and foster human connection - whether working with toddlers uttering their first words or guiding seniors on their journey to independence.
This position presents a unique chance to make an impactful difference for diverse populations across various stages of life. It merges outpatient therapy with occasional inpatient support, allowing you to channel your passion for pediatric language development, adult neurogenic communication disturbances, or geriatric cognitive-linguistic rehabilitation.
Description
  • Conduct evaluations across pediatric, adult, and geriatric groups utilizing both standardized assessments and observational methods.
  • Craft personalized treatment plans tailored to meet short-term and long-term goals related to communication, cognitive skills, or swallowing needs.
  • Deliver one-on-one speech therapy interventions emphasizing communication, language, fluency, voice, and swallowing.
  • Collaborate with physical therapists, occupational therapists, nurses, physicians, caregivers, and families to ensure integrated care plans.
  • Provide education for patients and families to support progress in self-directed practice outside of clinical sessions.
  • Participate in occasional inpatient speech therapy evaluations, ensuring seamless continuity of patient care.
  • Maintain meticulous and timely documentation according to state, federal, and organizational regulations.
  • Engage with ongoing advancements in the field through continuing education and interactions with peers.
Education
  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from a recognized institution.
  • Completion of a supervised Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) if not yet ASHA-certified.
Certifications
  • State licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist.
  • Preferred Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
Skills
  • Expertise in evidence-based treatment modalities for a spectrum of ages, with a thorough knowledge of both developmental and acquired speech, language, and swallowing disorders.
  • Outstanding interpersonal communication skills applicable to patients, families, and interdisciplinary care teams.
  • Flexible and innovative approach to therapy techniques to cater to the wide range of cultural and linguistic needs of clients.
  • Strong clinical insight and problem-solving aptitude.
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records as well as documentation practices.
Benefits
  • Competitive earnings reflective of experience.
  • Flexible scheduling offering a harmonious work-life balance and diverse caseloads.
  • Chances to specialize in pediatrics, adult neuro rehab, or geriatrics.
  • Paid time off (PTO) and holiday compensation.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and life insurance choices.
  • Support for continuing education and professional development.
  • A collaborative, team-oriented environment that prioritizes quality care and lifelong growth.

A Career That Moves You - and Your Community
In this role, you won't just be delivering speech therapy; you'll engage in a community-centric mission focused on restoring voices, enhancing communication, and nurturing moments of joy through basic yet vital human experiences: understanding and connection.
Surrounded by clinicians who treat each other like family, you will thrive in an environment that emphasizes collaboration over competition. Each patient has a narrative to share; we trust you to guide how that story unfolds.
Why Living and Working in Milwaukee Will Inspire You
The heart of Milwaukee beats with a unique blend of cultural vibrancy and historical charm, creating a setting that invites exploration and engagement. From the joyous laughter at summer festivals to the tranquil moments along the shores of Lake Michigan, here you'll discover endless possibilities to savor both life and career.
Families gather in cozy local parks for community events, while outdoor enthusiasts take to the scenic trails or sail the tranquil waters. Culinary aficionados can indulge in everything from iconic cheese curds to world-class dining experiences that celebrate local flavors.
Creativity thrives in Milwaukee's art scene, with murals brightening the streets, captivating performances igniting local theaters, and outdoor markets bursting with artisan goods and fresh produce. For professionals, the advantages extend beyond lifestyle; Milwaukee boasts a burgeoning healthcare landscape and vibrant community, making it an ideal location for both personal and professional growth.
Whether you are embarking on your career adventure or are an experienced clinician looking for fresh opportunities, you will find the supportive ground you need to flourish both personally and in your career.
Your Ideal Candidate Awaits
We are in search of a Speech Language Pathologist who is motivated not just by clinical outcomes but also by compassion and connection. Someone who observes a quiet child and sees a universe of self-expression waiting to materialize; or who perceives the hesitant words of a stroke survivor and recognizes unwavering determination.
You may be a pediatric expert eager to expand your repertoire to adult care - or perhaps a neuro-focused clinician excited to incorporate early intervention to enrich your practice.
Whatever your specialty, if you are prepared to serve with passion and innovate with expertise, you will find a welcoming community here eager for your contribution.
Let Us Find the Right Expression Together
If you see speech as more than mere sounds, and therapy as something deeply interpersonal - if you value building trust before pursuing goals, and cherish the joy that accompanies communication - this might be the meaningful next step in your journey.
Join us in a thriving, close-knit community that celebrates the art of communication and the courage to begin anew. Apply today to share your voice with our dynamic team - and assist others in discovering theirs.
