Position Overview

The Area Director provides strategic operational leadership for multiple afterschool and summer program sites. Serving as a crucial connector between organizational goals and site-level execution, you will supervise and coach Site Directors, foster a culture of collaboration, ensure the highest safety standards, and maintain strict compliance with grant and organizational metrics.

Key Responsibilities Supervision & Leadership
  • Coach & Mentor: Provide direct supervision, guidance, and consistent feedback to Site Directors/Coordinators, including monthly 1:1 coaching sessions.
  • Team Alignment: Facilitate weekly staff meetings and bi-monthly Area Lead meetings to share best practices and maintain alignment across sites.
  • Staffing Ratios: Monitor and maintain an optimal staffing ratio of 1:15 across all assigned program sites.
Collaboration & Community Partnerships
  • Network Building: Establish structured opportunities for area leaders to connect, network, and collectively problem-solve.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a trusted partner, traveling to sites to interface directly with school administrators, site leadership, and community stakeholders.
Youth & Staff Safety
  • Safety First: Champion safe, inclusive, and supportive environments, strictly enforcing BGCA safety standards and procedural observations.
  • Corrective Action: Promptly address safety concerns, monitor monthly checklists, and implement corrective action plans with absolute professionalism.
Grant Compliance, Monitoring & Training
  • Accountability: Track compliance metrics to ensure all grant deadlines and reporting requirements are met. Ensure personnel actions are completed within 24 hours.
  • Continuous Improvement: Systematically observe program activities, document findings, and provide targeted training to enhance program quality and youth outcomes.

Qualifications Education & Experience:

Physical & Schedule Requirements:
  • Ability to travel regularly between multiple local program sites.
