Director of Backhaul Logistics

Location: Duluth, GA, Hybrid in-office 3x a week

Position OverviewThe Director of Backhaul Logistics supports the coordination of backhaul logistics between third parties andNDCP distribution centers to maximize NDCP's backhaul revenue.

Responsibilities

What you will do:

1. Lead strategic planning, hands-on execution of freight. Responsible for the coordination of backhaul logistics between third-party vendors/sites and NDCP distribution centers.2. Ensure cost-efficient equipment utilization.3. Work with NDCP Distribution Center leaders, transportation leaders and routing analysts tomaximize fleet utilization and maximize backhaul logistics.4. Timely address backhaul logistics issues, whether internal or with third parties.5. Assist in reporting analytics associated with backhaul operations.6. Assist with special projects as required.

7. Strategic supply chain planning, forecasting, network optimization, category management, Procurement, and cost reduction.

8. Relationship building with Internal Customers: Operations, Procurement, Sourcing, Finance, and Restaurant Solutions.

9. P&L responsibility includes budgeting, revenue, and expenses for 10 DC's for the backhaul program. 

10. Work closely with 3PL freight company.

Qualifications

Qualifications you bring: 

1. Food Service experience: 3 to 5 years of Food Service industry experience in the Transportation Department and familiarity with the intercompany Backhaul program. 

2. Budgeting and expense management experience preferred.

3. Proficient in Microsoft Office software, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.

4. SAP experience preferred.

5. Prior experience with Routing software.

6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

7. Strong leadership and decision-making capabilities required.

8. Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills required.

9. High School Diploma or equivalent
