Position Overview

The Lead Software Engineer (“LSE”) is a hands-on leader of a full-stack software engineering team, with approximately a quarter of the LSE’s time to be spent leading the team and three quarters on designing and implementing applications. The candidate must be highly motivated, with excellent communication skills and expertise in software development technologies and methodologies.

The LSE must be able to direct, design and implement solutions in a timely manner, with minimal supervisory guidance. The LSE will lead design sessions between the business and technology stakeholders to elicit business requirements and design documents and enforce software development standards and methodologies, as defined by enterprise architecture and software engineering leadership. The LSE must have a strong understanding of Microsoft Azure leading cloud-native software development initiatives, driving architectural decisions, and mentoring a team of engineers to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performing solutions on the Azure platform. In addition, the LSE with hands-on experience in Microsoft Power Platform, specifically Power Apps and Power Automate, to lead the design and development of low-code applications and workflow automation across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Working with business unit heads and other stakeholders to identify and implement application solutions to meet their operational needs.
  • Leading the architecture, design, and delivery of custom applications using Power Apps (Canvas and Model-Driven) and automation workflows using Power Automate.
  • Translate complex business requirements into scalable, maintainable low-code/no-code solutions.
  • Leading software engineers in a cross-functional team, consisting of other software engineers, quality assurance, test automation engineers, business analysts, and project managers to complete project deliverables on schedule.
  • Working with enterprise architects, solution architects, and infrastructure engineers to design, implement, and deliver end-to-end software solutions for business problems.
  • Overseeing effective code and design reviews with team members.
  • Leading and managing vendors and contractors that are on-shore, off-shore, near-shore or a combination thereof.

Qualifications

  • Required: A bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, information science or any other technical degree with at least 8 years of professional experience as a software engineer.
  • Expert-level proficiency with Microsoft Power Apps, Power Automate, and Dataverse
  • Required: Certification with Microsoft Azure.
  • Required: 8+ years of experience building, motivating, and mentoring a team of Software Engineers and leading digital transformations.
  • 8+ years of hands-on experience with C# and expertise in at least one Microsoft application development framework such as .NET 8.
  • 5+ years of proficiency with at least one UI framework such as Blazor, MVC .NET, and Angular.

Required Experience

  • Building and maintaining integrations with Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Dataverse, Dynamics 365, and external APIs or data sources.
  • A proven ability to lead software engineers in a cross-functional team to complete project deliverables on schedule and deliver end-to-end software solutions to business problems.
  • Expertise with Azure services such as Azure App Services, Azure Functions, Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Azure DevOps, Azure SQL, and other PaaS/IaaS offerings to build cloud-native applications.
  • Strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Systems Architecture and Application Design.
  • Expertise in understanding the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), including a proven ability to work with a project from inception to delivery and support.
  • Expert knowledge of DevOps, CI/CD pipelines and at least one Agile development methodology.
  • Proficiency in C#, Java, Python, SSMS and the standard query language (SQL).
  • Expertise with a DAL Framework, such as Entity Framework.
  • Expertise with Git source control and Git workflows.
  • Proficiency in the use and implementation of design patterns, with the ability to implement business logic in a middle tier, using design patterns and web services, as necessary.
  • A proven ability to develop and implement REST APIs for back-end web services and a knowledge of designing and building Process and Experience APIs.
  • Proficiency with feature management and/or API versioning.
  • A proven ability to implement relational database models.
  • A proven ability to write parameterized unit tests with dependency injection and mock objects and/or implementing full integration/regression test suites.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows OS, Microsoft Office tools and Microsoft Visual Studio.
