Job description

Software Engineering Manager

On behalf of our client, Dice Talent Solutions is seeking a Software Engineering Manager.

This full-time (direct hire) position located in Las Vegas, NV. Work Is performed 100% on-site.

Candidates must be able to work on our client s W2 (annual salary + benefits package). Must be permanently authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship. No visa sponsorship or transfers are available. No 3rd party Corp to Corp inquiries will be considered.

Responsibilities:

Stakeholder Collaboration & Agile Delivery:

  • Lead the software development team day to day, running sprint planning, backlog grooming, stand-ups, and retrospectives to keep delivery on track.
  • Work with the Director of Software Development and software team to define software tasking and delivery schedule.
  • Work with Director of Software Development and software team to translate business and product needs into clear technical requirements and actionable sprint deliverables for the team.
  • Communicate progress, risks, and trade-offs clearly to the Director of Software Development, stakeholders, and leadership.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers, providing technical leadership and support.

Software Team leadership and Collaboration:

  • Champion and prioritize Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban) as the team's primary way of working.
  • Work with external development partners to co-ordinate delivery and integration of fleet manager software.
  • Work with QA/DevOps, software test engineer and the software team to implement CI/CD and software test best practices, in particular End-to-End testing.
  • Participate in code reviews to maintain code quality, consistency, and adherence to architectural standards.
  • Work with the team to ensure seamless integration between cloud services, telematics data, and edge/embedded devices.

Documentation and Compliance:

  • Work with team to create and maintain technical documentation for software designs, algorithms, and test procedures.
  • Work with team to ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices in embedded software development.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Stay current with emerging technologies and trends in embedded systems and controls engineering.
  • Drive continuous improvement of software development processes, tools, and Agile practices.

Timesheet Management & Approvals:

  • Review, verify, and approve employee timesheets, sick time, paid time off (PTO), and floating holiday requests in a timely and accurate manner, ensuring compliance with company policies, payroll schedules, and applicable labor regulations.
  • Evaluate and manage time-off approvals with consideration for maintaining appropriate staffing levels to support operational needs and quality output.
  • Resolve discrepancies, address timekeeping issues, and coordinate with payroll as needed to ensure accurate and timely pay processing.

Performance Documentation & Support:

  • Actively manage employee performance by maintaining ongoing documentation related to skills, performance trends, development progress, and compliance.
  • Conduct regularly scheduled one-on-one meetings to provide coaching, feedback, and goal alignment.
  • Utilize documented insights to support annual performance reviews, performance management processes, succession planning, and informed management decision-making, including identifying high-potential talent and workforce readiness.
  • Other duties as assigned

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • 10+ years software development
  • Demonstrated ability to lead agile software teams (5+ years)
  • Demonstrated stakeholder management skills (5+ years)
  • Proficient with SCM tools and methodologies including Git, GitHub, and CI/CD
  • Proficient with software development and debugging tools such as VS Code and gdb
  • Proficient with Agile and CI/CD development environments such as GitHub
  • Proficient with Docker and Docker containers
  • Proficient with python, pytest, Postman, typescript, react, C/C++, MQTT, AWS RDS, AWS IOT-Core, Modbus, TCP-IP networking, CanbJ1939
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with proven ability to work cross-functionally with stakeholders, Product Management, and R&D teams

Desired:

  • Experience with hybrid power systems
  • Experience with CODESYS Structured Text/Ladder Logic programming and integration
  • Experience with Energy Management System, power system, and microgrid control algorithms
  • Familiar with industry standards such as IEEE 2030, 61850, 62898, and 1547-2018, and ISO 15118

Salary:

  • The salary range for this role is $165,000 $185,000 per year, which serves as a guide for pay decisions. Final compensation will be determined by a number of factors, such as the candidate's qualifications, experience, and skills, as well as pay equity considerations.
