As an Advanced Software Engineer here at Honeywell Aerospace, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and enhancing test software solutions that support aerospace applications. You will apply your technical expertise to build innovative software architectures and contribute to advancing aerospace technology.
You will report directly to our Engineering Manager and you'll work out of our Clearwater, Florida location on a hybrid work schedule. This schedule requires flexibility depending on business needs.
New hires are expected to report on-site 100% for the first 90 days of employment.
In this role, you will impact the aerospace industry by delivering reliable, high-performance software that meets rigorous safety and quality standards, helping to strengthen Honeywell's leadership in aerospace technology. As a senior technical authority, you will drive innovation, quality, and performance in our software infrastructure.

Responsibilities
  • Design, code, test, integrate, qualify, and document advanced test software for Clearwater Space products, including Inertial Navigation Units (INUs) and Single Board Computers (SBCs).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define software requirements and ensure integration with hardware components.
  • Contribute to software development efforts, ensuring adherence to quality standards and project timelines.

Qualifications
YOU MUST HAVE
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as science, technology, engineering, mathematics.
  • Must be a US citizen with the ability to maintain a security clearance due to contractual requirements.
  • 4+ years of experience in software development with a focus on advanced software engineering principles.
  • 2+ years of experience with test equipment or aerospace.

WE VALUE
  • Experience with digital communication interfaces, including MIL-STD-1553, ARINC 429, IEEE 488, RS-422/485, IEEE-1394, Ethernet, High-Speed Fiber Optic, and Synchronous Data Link Control (SDLC).
  • Experience with embedded systems or aerospace software development.
  • Experience with embedded drivers and embedded operating systems such as VxWorks.
  • Experience developing Windows GUIs and device drivers.
  • Strong knowledge of software design patterns, embedded systems, and real-time operating systems.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C#, C++, and Python, with experience in aerospace software standards and tools.
  • Experience with software development lifecycle processes and tools relevant to aerospace applications.
  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Passion for innovation and continuous learning in software technologies.
  • Strong communication and technical writing skills.
  • Self-motivated individuals who can work independently, taking the initiative to complete tasks proactively.
