Step into an impactful contract assignment supporting high school students' well-being in a vibrant educational community. This full-time, school-year opportunity spans from October 26, 2026, through January 22, 2027, with the possibility of extending. Working set school hours from 7:00 am to 2:30 pm, you'll play a crucial role during a maternity leave, collaborating with a dedicated Certified School Nurse and health services team.
What we're seeking:

  • Valid Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license (no LPNs)
  • Previous experience working as a nurse in a school setting
  • Ability to work full-time onsite, adhering to school schedule
  • Strong assessment, clinical, and documentation skills
  • Expertise in managing student medications and medical records
  • Professional, compassionate approach with adolescents and school staff
  • Up-to-date resume and nursing certification / license required for consideration
Key responsibilities:
  • Deliver direct professional nursing care, first aid, emergency response, and illness management for students and staff in line with state and district standards
  • Administer and document medication, ensuring all medications are stored securely
  • Collaborate in wellness initiatives and special health projects, partnering with the Certified School Nurse
  • Support ongoing health office administration, including AED monitoring and equipment maintenance reporting
  • Maintain accurate health records for compliance with student immunization, physical exam, and mandated reporting
  • Make referrals for suspected abuse/neglect in accordance with legal and ethical mandates
