Analyzes and designs data flows for mainframe and web-based brokerage and equity compensation application development. Draws on in-depth knowledge of the business or function to provide business unit-wide solutions by developing complex, multi-faceted software applications. Researches and recommends new technologies in support of the strategic direction of the business unit and participates in the research and recommendation of appropriate models, methods, tools, and technologies to achieve business-unit-wide solutions.Primary Responsibilities:* Leads and mentors engineering teams, driving technical strategy and ensuring successful delivery of business objectives.* Defines and executes technology roadmaps, delivering scalable and innovative solutions for complex challenges.* Collaborates with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to align technical initiatives with organizational goals.* Oversees the full project life cycle for multi-platform programs, ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery.* Promotes best practices in software development, architecture, and quality assurance across the organization.* Fosters a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and team development to maintain a competitive advantage.* Provides technical mentorship to team members, guiding them through challenges and leading them toward successful outcomes.* Applies business knowledge to translate divisional strategic vision into actionable business solutions by developing multiple software applications and conducting alternative solution studies.* Evaluates and recommends changes to project development policies, procedures, standards, and strategies for development experts and management.* Translates and incorporates business vision and strategy to architectural strategy.* Recommendations at the functional level.* Participates in high-level, cross-functional architecture design teams.* Identifies and consults with internal and external technical resources to produce cross-company strategic designs.* Consults on development and delivery of major technology initiatives for the business unit.* Consults on deployment of major project deliverables.* Consults on the documentation of major technology application.* Oversees the technical implementation of cross-divisional or company architectural components.* Initiates and drives project or strategy discussions with users or external groups to resolve issues.* Sets vision, goals, and direction of team/organization.* Plans and leads organization-wide initiatives.* Provides leadership, technical supervision, and expertise to multiple teams in broad technical areas on complex organization-wide projects.* Researches and recommends new technologies.* Regularly provides guidance, training, and coaching to other team members for performance and career development.* Identifies and plans for future resource needs.* Determines technical approaches at a strategic level for the business unit.Education and Experience:Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and six (6) years of experience as a Director, Software Engineering (or closely related occupation) delivering data solutions for Master Data Management (MDM) focused on person-related data, leveraging mainframe, Java, and Oracle technologies.Or, alternatively, Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and four (4) years of experience as a Director, Software Engineering (or closely related occupation) delivering data solutions for Master Data Management (MDM) focused on person-related data, leveraging mainframe, Java, and Oracle technologies.Skills and Knowledge:Candidate must also possess:* Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) executing mainframe application development, test automation, and support using COBOL, CICS, Java, Web Services, and SQL; performing file formatting and comparisons with File-Aid; reviewing source code version control using Endeavor; debugging and unit testing applications using Intertest and Abend-Aid; and scheduling jobs using Control-M.* DE performing mainframe application development and performance tuning within Time Sharing Option (TSO) and Multiple Virtual Storage (MVS) operating system environments; developing applications using Endevor, Git, and ClearCase for version control, Control-M for scheduling, Abend-AID and Intertest for debugging, File-Aid for browsing, and Easytrieve for report generation; and conducting performance tuning and capacity planning -- reducing Input/Output (I/Os), Central Processing Unit (CPU) time, Million Service Unit (MSUs), and Million Instructions Per Second (MIPs) -- using Strobe, iStrobe, Platinum Detector, and Transaction Monitor (TMON).* DE building web applications using Angular 10+, Node.js, NPM, HTML5, and JavaScript; and defining web application formatting rules and responsive designs using Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) and Sassy Cascading Style Sheets (SCSS).* DE performing Continuous Development, and Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD), using Docker, Jenkins, uDeploy, GIT, and Cloud service providers (Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Azure); and performing database operations associated with MySQL and SQL server using T-SQL queries and Stored Procedures.#PE1M2#LI-DNIFidelity’s Onsite Working Model Fidelity is transitioning to a full-time onsite working model through a phased rollout across regions and roles. Currently, some roles and locations require 100% onsite presence, while others require less. Onsite expectations are likely to evolve as the rollout continues.
