Director - Investment Strategy

Location: Near East Greenbush, NY (Hybrid/Remote within New York State considered)
Salary Range: $120,000 - $127,000 annually

Our highly respected client is seeking a Director - Investment Strategy to lead and execute sophisticated investment advisory services for institutional and retirement plan clients. This role offers the opportunity to shape investment programs, influence strategic direction, and deliver measurable value to clients across a diverse portfolio.


About the Role

Reporting directly to senior leadership, this position is responsible for overseeing investment strategy execution, including due diligence, manager selection, and ongoing performance monitoring. The Director will work closely with internal teams and clients to ensure investment programs remain competitive, compliant, and aligned with long-term objectives.

This is a high-impact role requiring both technical investment expertise and strong communication skills to translate complex financial concepts into actionable insights.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a robust, repeatable framework for investment oversight, including fund selection,                     manager research, due diligence, and performance monitoring
  • Deliver advisory services for defined contribution retirement plans (e.g., 401(k), 403(b)) and institutional clients         such as pension plans and tax-exempt organizations
  • Analyze and interpret capital market trends and communicate insights through written reports, presentations,             and client meetings
  • Oversee investment lineup tracking and reporting using industry platforms and tools
  • Partner with business development teams to support new client acquisition through proposals and presentations
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure consistency and quality in investment processes and client deliverables
  • Serve as an active contributor to the organization's investment committee, participating in key decision-making         processes
  • Ensure adherence to client Investment Policy Statements and regulatory requirements, recommending updates         as needed
  • Lead investment selection and monitoring for proprietary or curated fund programs
  • Stay current on regulatory developments, market trends, and emerging investment strategies
  • Conduct ongoing research to identify innovative solutions and maintain a competitive edge in the marketplace
  • Maintain required professional licenses and certifications through continuing education

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field (Master's               degree preferred)
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in investment advisory services, particularly within retirement plans or                   institutional asset management
  • Strong understanding of financial markets, investment products, and regulatory frameworks
  • Required licenses: FINRA Series 7 and Series 66 (or Series 65), plus SIE
  • Interest in advanced credentials such as CAIA is a plus
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities, including experience presenting complex material to diverse         audiences
  • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and internal stakeholders
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively


Work Environment & Travel

  • Flexible work arrangement with remote options within New York State
  • Regular travel within the region and periodic visits to the main office (typically several times per month)
