Job description

As a Trusts and Estates Tax Operations Vice President within the global Trusts and Estates team, you will be part of the Tax Technical and Advisory team that supports global team of professionals across the global Trusts and Estates practice.  You will partner closely with internal teams and the firm's third-party accounting and tax preparation firms to review and set tax policies, opine on complex planning and compliance scenarios and assess the impact of changing domestic and foreign tax compliance regulations.  You will be crucial in supporting the US Private Bank by ensuring the timely and accurate completion of Common Reporting Standard (CRS) and Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) reporting as well as multi-jurisdictional tax filings.  You will have demonstrated technical expertise in CRS and FATCA compliance tax form validation and tax filing obligations for non-US trusts and estates. You will also have an aptitude for streamlining and automating existing processes using LLM and other tools.

Job responsibilities 

  • Serve as a subject matter expert for Automatic Exchange of Information (AEO) and fiduciary tax matters

  • Support global trust teams on tax matters including but not limited to CRS, FATCA, Economic Substance Reporting, Beneficial Ownership Reporting, International Tax obligations and Non-US Tax Reporting

  • Prepare and present substantive tax training to the Trusts and Estates practice

  • Partner with team members to review and support preparation of various tax forms for several non-US jurisdictions

  • Review governing documents to ensure tax attributes are correct

  • Identify and execute on automation opportunities

  • Manage CRS Tax Profile Process: Oversee the creation, maintenance, and validation of CRS Tax Profiles, ensuring compliance and CRS and FATCA regulations

  • Lead CRS Indicia Cure Process: Direct the CRS Indicia Cure process, including the management of CRS Indicia tickets, ensuring timely resolution and compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Enhance Tax Compliance Procedures: Identify opportunities for process improvements and lead transformation projects to enhance tax compliance procedures, including the implementation of new systems and workflows
  • Monitor Regulatory Changes: Stay informed of changes in AEOI and International Tax regulations, updating procedures and systems as necessary to maintain compliance

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • 7+ years of relevant tax experience at a Big 4 public accounting firm, law firm or corporate fiduciary

  • Background in tax or accounting (including experience providing tax technical insight in an operational environment)

  • Direct experience supporting AEOI Information Reporting

  • Understanding of tax certifications via Form W-8, Form W-9, and CRS Self-Certification

  • Deep understanding of international tax filings and regulatory change management

  • Experience with US tax reporting for foreign trusts

  • Superior written and verbal communication skills with an ability to recognize audience and effectively communicate with junior associates and senior leaders with the ability to articulate process improvement experience clearly (ideas, concepts, and procedural changes)

  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and reprioritize daily as new deliverables arise

  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite with ability and willingness to learn and adapt to new technology, systems and processes

  • Willingness to work beyond core business hours as needed, especially during peak seasons

  • Demonstrable risk awareness and operational control experience within financial services

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Experience in operations and product support is highly preferred
