Job description

Description
At Oceans Behavioral Hospital Permian Basin, healing is our focus. We are passionate about helping adults and seniors manage the challenges associated with anxiety, depression and other mental health issues. Utilizing proven, innovative and progressive therapies, our qualified professionals strive to promote long-term wellness through a range of inpatient and outpatient psychiatric counseling and treatment options.
The Market Development Director develops and implements the strategic community education plan. Coordinates programs for new and existing hospital services to the community. Conducts educational research to determine the need of new services and provides administration with summaries and recommendations pertaining to these evaluations. Coordinates the production and placement of advertisements and evaluates market reactions to advertising programs and marketing campaigns. Supervises Community Education Liaisons. All duties to be done in accordance with Joint Commission, Federal and State regulations, Oceans', policies and procedures and Performance Improvement Standards.
Essential Functions:
  1. Identify opportunities within the market to develop a marketing plan that will generate referrals to the hospital's inpatient and outpatient programs and services.
  2. Manage the Market Development staff and work collaboratively with the Hospital Administrator and HRD to include recruitment, onboarding, training, managing performance and retention activities.
  3. Maintain an up-to-date inventory of referrals for each assigned market for continual evaluation of growth opportunities.
  4. Ensure the department is operating as expected to include field rides with liaison staff, making facility/referral site visit and reviewing reports/data to ensure plans are being executed effectively.
  5. Maintains involvement in community service organizations to ensure community awareness of the hospital's services and support of behavioral health needs.
  6. Collaborate with Support Center marketing on facility specific and market wide strategies.
  7. Provides feedback and recommendations to hospital leadership and Support Center marketing staff on program development and quality improvement initiatives related to customer service, referral and admissions process and patient and referral source satisfaction.
  8. Determine and oversee goal setting process and assess performance of staff against goals/targets.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements
Education / Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, business administration or communications or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of five (5) years healthcare business development experience including experience in leader or supervisor roles.
  • Formal sales training including demonstrated healthcare sales experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of hospital operations and psychiatric programs preferred.
  • Understanding of revenue and expense management.

Qualifications / Skills:
  • Knowledge of hospital operations and psychiatric programs preferred.
  • Strict adherence to all corporate compliance policies, which includes code of conduct and code of ethics.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to set goals and targets for staff.
  • Passes age/disability/cultural sensitivity skills test, probationary and annual monitor.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development.
  • Communicates in age/disability/culturally sensitive manner to patients, patient's families and referral sources.
  • Must successfully complete CPR certification and an Oceans approved behavioral health de-escalation program.

Work Environment:
Subject to many interruptions. Occasional pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries. This position can be high paced and stressful; must be able to cope mentally and physically to atmosphere. This person might sometimes experience disagreeable odors, sights and/or unpredictable patient behavior. Work requires spending approximately 80% of time traveling and working in the field.
