Title: Senior Electrical Engineer
Location: Indianapolis, IN (Hybrid)

Sterling Engineering is looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer in Indianapolis, IN. This opportunity is with a top-tier engineering/design organization offering strong project diversity and career growth.

Job Duties:
  • Lead electrical system design for power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and low-voltage infrastructure.
  • Develop load calculations, panel schedules, one-line diagrams, and equipment layouts using Revit and Design Master.
  • Perform voltage drop, fault current, and load calculations using Design Master or SKM.
  • Coordinate utility service requirements, transformer sizing, and metering needs.
  • Prepare Basis of Design documents, system narratives, and technical specifications.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, architectural, structural, plumbing, and low-voltage teams.
  • Participate in client meetings, design reviews, and coordination sessions.
  • Support project managers with scope development, scheduling, and client communication.
  • Perform QA/QC on drawings, models, and calculations.
  • Conduct field visits for construction administration, including RFIs, submittals, and punch lists.
  • Mentor and support junior engineering staff.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 8+ years of electrical engineering experience, ideally within professional services.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license or ability to obtain within 1–2 years.
  • Proficient in Revit (5+ years) with experience using Design Master Electrical or SKM PowerTools.
  • Strong understanding of NEC, NFPA 70, NFPA 72, and state building codes.
  • Experience designing normal and emergency power systems, switchboards, panelboards, feeders, transformers, grounding, lighting, fire alarm systems, and low-voltage pathways.
  • Ability to perform voltage drop, load, and fault current calculations.
  • Experience coordinating with utility companies; knowledge of solar/renewable systems is a plus.
  • Strong communication and technical writing skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects independently.
  • Experience in healthcare, higher education, federal, government, or institutional facilities is preferred.
