Job description

Overview
Ignite your leadership potential as a Production Manager, where you'll spearhead the planning, coordination, and execution of feed operations to ensure seamless production flow. This includes responsibility for production formulas, custom feed pricing, ingredient purchasing and production schedules as well as other duties that are assigned by the general manager.

Responsibilities

  • Manage bulk ingredient purchasing, pricing, and inventory

  • Negotiates and finalizes ingredient purchase and sales contracts

  • Establishes prices and margin recipes

  • Manages and maintains customer and internal feed formulas

  • Maintains and coordinates daily mill production schedule and production paperwork

  • Maintains business relationships with ingredient vendors, customers and independent consultants

  • Schedules bulk ingredient deliveries to mill and direct farm deliveries

Other Responsibilities

  • Adheres to all Company policies and procedures (safety, quality control, record-keeping)

  • Maintains closed communication with production, sales and accounting team

  • Participation in customer service, including counter sales

  • Attends and contributes to sales and staff meetings

  • Assists in new employee training, as applicable

  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Working knowledge and experience with commodity basis, hedging and contracting

  • Extensive knowledge of feed industry policies, practices and procedures

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide diverse teams effectively

  • Excellent organizational skills with a focus on process optimization and problem-solving

  • Experience with computer software, including Microsoft Office

  • Knowledge of safety protocols, OSHA regulations, and quality assurance standards

  • Effective communication skills for collaboration across departments and with external partners

  • Bachelor's degree in agriculture business or related field
