This role is responsible for planning, organizing, developing, and directing the Nursing Department in alignment with state, federal, and facility standards. The DON provides strategic leadership to nursing staff, drives quality improvement initiatives, and ensures that resident care is delivered safely, efficiently, and compassionately. This position is ideal for an experienced RN leader with a strong background in SNF operations, survey readiness, staffing management, and clinical excellence.QualificationsCurrent and valid state‑specific Registered Nurse (RN) licenseMinimum of 2 years of supervisory experience as a DON or ADON in a Skilled Nursing FacilityStrong knowledge of state and federal long‑term care regulationsExperience with survey readiness, Plans of Correction (POCs), and quality improvementDemonstrated leadership skills with the ability to coach, mentor, and develop nursing staffAbility to read, write, and speak the English languageEssential FunctionsClinical Leadership & Resident CareProvide overall clinical leadership to ensure high‑quality resident care, regulatory compliance, and strong clinical outcomesOversee, direct, and support nursing staff in the delivery of safe, effective, and compassionate careOversee the comprehensive care planning process and ensure interdisciplinary coordinationUphold resident rights, including dignity, privacy, informed consent, and safetyEnsure timely communication with physicians, families, and responsible parties regarding significant changes in conditionParticipate in pre‑admission assessments and approve admissions in coordination with the AdministratorRegulatory Compliance & Survey ReadinessEnsure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations governing SNF operationsLead regulatory surveys, complaint investigations, and Plans of Correction (POCs)Maintain continuous readiness for unannounced surveys and regulatory visitsEnsure timely corrective actions for survey deficiencies and grievancesMaintain compliance with health, fire, safety, sanitation, OSHA, and disaster‑preparedness standardsInfection Prevention & SafetyOversee the Infection Preventionist and Infection Control Program, including surveillance, reporting, and staff educationEnsure compliance with antibiotic stewardship requirementsParticipate in emergency preparedness planning, drills, and response activitiesEnsure nursing staff readiness for disasters, evacuations, and emergency eventsQuality Assurance & Risk ManagementMonitor clinical quality indicators (falls, pressure injuries, infections, hospitalizations)Implement corrective actions to reduce clinical risk and improve outcomesSupport the development, implementation, and monitoring of the Quality Assurance ProgramServe on committees including Quality Assurance, Infection Control, Patient Care, Safety, and Pharmaceutical ServicesStaff Leadership, Training & Workforce ManagementLead recruitment, hiring, evaluations, coaching, and disciplinary actions for nursing personnelEnsure nursing staff orientation, ongoing education, annual competencies, and scope‑of‑practice compliance for LVNs, CNAs, and Medication AidesDevelop and maintain nursing schedules based on acuity, census, and staffing standardsProvide clinical consultation and support to the Administrator and facility leadership teamMaintain 24/7 responsibility for nursing operations and assume Administrator duties when delegatedDocumentation, Communication & Administrative OversightEnsure accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation across the Nursing DepartmentEnsure all incidents and accidents are documented and reported per policy and regulationMaintain inventories of medications, supplies, and clinical equipmentParticipate in facility marketing efforts and community engagementPerform other essential functions as assignedPlease visit cantexcc.com for more information about this location.We are an Equal Opportunity Employer.
