Job description

Under general direction, supports the monitoring, coordination, and evaluation of operational activities within the designated market. Collaborates with key stakeholders on clinical and non-clinical policies and practices. May perform any duties of the Director of Clinical Operations as assigned or in the Directors absence.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists the Director in researching and learning new emerging technologies and trends.
  • Supports the maintenance of appropriate non-provider clinical staffing levels and may assume primary responsibility as directed.
  • Assists in developing and implementing strategies to ensure operational integrity between clinical and non-clinical departments.
  • Keeps staff informed of changes affecting the organization under the guidance of the Director.
  • Assures staff compliance with all clinical and non-clinical policies.
  • In collaboration with the Compliance and Quality teams and under the direction of the Director, ensures compliance with legislative, legal and regulatory body requirements.
  • Monitors outside professional and non-professional services (i.e.: legal, accounting, radiology, laboratory, occupational health, housekeeping, etc.) as assigned.
  • Serves as a patient safety and infection control resource and may act as subject matter expert in the absence of or as directed by the Director.
  • Supports management of the Quality Net relationship and may serve as liaison to the CDC when assigned.
  • Monitors and reviews MHCC freestanding AS Facility Survey (COMAR 10.24.04) under the direction of the Director.
  • Balances team and individual responsibilities; exhibits objectivity and openness to others views; gives and welcomes feedback; contributes to building a positive team spirit; puts success of team above own interests; supports everyones efforts to succeed.
  • Independently works through situational issues and uses problem solving skills to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Participates in developing and implementing strategic initiatives under the direction of the Director.
  • Facilitates creation and/or expansion of programs and services as assigned.
  • Assists with planning, facilitating, and accurately recording meetings as required for surgery center compliance.
  • Implements and monitors approved policies and procedures.
  • Communicates appropriately with the management team, physicians, and the Director, keeping them informed of key issues as they arise.
  • Ensures all non-provider clinical staff are appropriately trained and involved in ancillary programs.
  • Works with appropriate vendors, as directed, to ensure maximum effectiveness of ancillary programs.
  • Assists in the development and opening of new facilities, as needed.
  • Ensures appropriate staff are completing regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Facilitates workers compensation program activities (which may include ordering medication, properly recording and sending out medication for destruction, training staff on dispensing, etc.) under the direction of the Director.
  • Participates in and completes all mandatory trainings.
  • Checks and responds to work e-mail at least twice per shift.
  • Maintains high-level of product and service knowledge.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree (B.S.) in a related field of study with a minimum of 2 years of management experience in a health care environment; OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet and Microsoft Office software (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook).
  • Must have prior experience working with Joint Commission, Accreditation for Ambulatory Health Care (AAHC), or Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) standards and regulations.
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills, including exceptional customer service.
  • Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with doctors, clinical staff, other co-workers and the public.
  • Must be able to work individually as well as within a team.
  • Must be able to effectively lead a team of healthcare professionals.
  • Must be able to follow both verbal and written instructions.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule.
  • Must be able to respond with patience and understanding during stressful conditions related to patient health and emergent situations.
  • Must be able to multi-task and prioritize.
  • Must demonstrate extreme attention to detail.
  • Must possess strong organization skills.

  • Must have a working knowledge of the healthcare field and medical specialty, as well as medical terminology.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two (2) years of prior experience working with an Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
  • Two (2) years experience managing an infection control and safety program.
  • Two (2) years experience working in a Hospital and/or Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) setting.

Driving/Travel:

The employee must have reliable transportation. Travel for this position may be required up to 100%. While the primary workplace may be closest to the employees home, work assignments could be in any of the Companys locations.
