Job description

Primex Plastics Corporation is one of the largest custom extruded plastic sheet producers in the country, with over 60 years in the business. Primex provides custom plastic sheet extrusion, colorants, compounds, additives and a full array of design and fabrication services. With eight manufacturing facilities from coast to coast, we are committed to quality, sustainability and innovation, and strive every day to help our customers reach their goals.

Our Design and Fabrication Division, headquartered in Richmond, Indiana, is a leader in custom designed, reusable packaging and plastic solutions. This position oversees about 60 production employees and will lead continuous improvement initiatives across safety, quality, and operational performance. This exempt position requires someone who is a strong leader and problem-solver with a continuous improvement mindset. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, data-driven, and able to lead teams, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement effective solutions that improve quality, efficiency, and overall plant performance.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing principles
  • Support team and employee development to strengthen performance and capabilities
  • Provide direct leadership, coaching, and development for a team of 12 direct reports, setting clear expectations and supporting individual and team performance
  • Promote a safety-first culture focused on employee health, safety, and environmental compliance
  • Develop and implement improvement plans to increase OEE, throughput, quality, lead time, and inventory performance
  • Maintain KPI dashboards and use performance data to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Ensure compliance with quality management systems and customer requirements
  • Drive improvements in product quality and process capability
  • Lead efforts to reduce defects, scrap, rework, and customer complaints
  • Conduct safety audits, plant inspections, and leadership safety walks
  • Investigate facility incidents, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence
Requirements
  • 5+ years of manufacturing leadership experience
  • Proven experience implementing Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Strong leadership, communication, and team development skills
  • Demonstrated success leading safety initiatives and fostering a strong safety culture
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations, quality systems, and manufacturing best practices
  • Ability to analyze operational data and KPIs to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills
  • Experience driving improvements in safety, quality, efficiency, and overall operational performance
