Job description

Position Overview Under general supervision, provides technical oversight of radiological work in the field. Supports radiological work planning, Job Hazard Analysis development and review, and verification of Radiation Protection Program procedures. Assists management in ensuring monitoring, controls, and processes for reducing and controlling radioactive materials and radiation generating equipment are in compliance with DOE Orders, safety guidelines, and applicable regulations.

The specific work assignment may include duties or activities to support the organization in one or more of the following functional areas, in addition to other duties as assigned: Functional: Provide technical, administrative, and functional support to the management team. Participate in development and validation of Job Hazard Analyses, Radiological Work Permits, and procedures related to radiological work activities. Make recommendations for corrective measures when excessive contamination levels are detected.

Respond to radioactive spills and incidents involving contaminated personnel. Generate reports for management and maintain required radiological control records. Perform quality assessments of instrument checks, radiological surveys, waste and material shipping documents, and other surveillances.

Provide training and mentorship to junior and senior radiological control technicians. Support ES&H field groups including industrial safety and chemical safety. Ensure control, quality, and transmittal of radiological protection records to Records Management.

Perform other job-related duties as assigned. Maintain knowledge of and demonstrate ability to perform work safely in accordance with approved safety policies and procedures. Actively participate in Safety Work Groups.Minimum Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent 5+ years of operational health physics experience, including two years in the DOE/NNSA complex or a gaseous diffusion facility

2+ years of direct experience as a Radiological Control Technician Sr. and current qualification as a Radiological Control Technician or Radiological Control Technician Sr. with an NRRPT certification, or equivalent combination of education and experience.Minimum Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent 5+ years of operational health physics experience, including two years in the DOE/NNSA complex or a gaseous diffusion facility

2+ years of direct experience as a Radiological Control Technician Sr. and current qualification as a Radiological Control Technician or Radiological Control Technician Sr. with an NRRPT certification, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
