Job description

Job Description Summary

We are fixed income experts. Raymond James financial advisors come to our private wealth team for advice and solutions for their top clients. We provide customized solutions using individual bonds (primarily municipal, but also taxable) --- not packaged products/SMAs. We use our trading platforms and relationships with Raymond James retail traders to select individual bonds as part of a customized fixed income portfolio allocation. We understand the credit risks of municipal and corporate issuers, and we identify where value exists in the market. We simplify complex topics, e.g. duration, credit and reinvestment risk, in easy to understand terms that financial advisors and clients can understand. Confidence, poise, and effective communication / presentation skills are critical for success. In depth knowledge of fixed income, but particularly municipal market knowledge, including experience with individual bonds (at the CUSIP level) is essential.
We also review existing client / prospect fixed income portfolios to assess credit risk, market risk, reinvestment risk, and interest rate/duration risk, which are topics that candidates must thoroughly understand. Upon request, we evaluate strategies to optimize portfolio performance, including reviewing swap opportunities for tax losses, credit purposes, and tax-efficiency (e.g. tax rates, state of residence). The successful candidate needs to stay on top of market trends and how they impact high net worth fixed income investors. This information is frequently communicated to both financial advisors and their clients, either via phone, zoom, or in-person meetings. In this position, the candidate will be writing a Municipal Bond Investor Weekly commentary each month targeted to high net worth investors - which is distributed to the firm's financial advisors, posted on the firm's website and shared via social media. Additionally, this candidate will be working with PCG complex and branch managers on the recruitment process by conducting in-person meetings with prospective financial advisor recruits on the trading floor.
We put clients first. We always act with integrity. We think long term.
