About the Role

Barclays is seeking an experienced Director, FinTech Product Management to lead the development, and execution of strategic FinTech initiatives across the Payments, FX & Liquidity portfolio. This role is responsible for translating global product strategy into regionally relevant solutions that drive client growth, operational efficiency, and revenue performance while maintaining the highest standards of governance, regulatory compliance, and risk management.

As a senior leader within the US Payments, FX & Liquidity Product Team, you will oversee strategic product investments, product modernization programs, and key FinTech initiatives that support Barclays' growth ambitions. You will work across Product, Technology, Sales, Operations, Finance, Risk, Legal, Compliance and external partners to deliver innovative client-focused solutions while influencing senior stakeholders globally.

The successful candidate will combine deep expertise in transaction banking, payments, FinTech partnerships, embedded finance, APIs, and digital ecosystems with strong leadership, commercial acumen, and execution capabilities. This individual will play a critical role in shaping the future of the Payments, FX & Liquidity franchise and building the next generation of client solutions.

Key Responsibilities Strategic Product Leadership
  • Support the development and execution of the Payments, FX & Liquidity product strategy, ensuring global consistency with regional relevance.
  • Define strategic priorities and investment roadmaps aligned to Barclays' Transaction Banking objectives.
  • Drive product simplification and modernization initiatives across the product portfolio.
  • Identify market opportunities, emerging technologies, regulatory developments, and competitive trends to inform strategic decision making.
  • Translate strategic objectives into measurable business outcomes and portfolio performance metrics.
Strategic Initiative Delivery & Execution
  • Oversee planning, prioritization, execution, and delivery of strategic investment initiatives across Payments, FX & Liquidity.
  • Lead cross-functional programs involving Product, Technology, Operations, Risk, Finance and Client Coverage teams.
  • Drive successful execution of transformational initiatives, ensuring delivery against defined business outcomes.
  • Establish clear governance frameworks, delivery milestones, and executive reporting mechanisms.
  • Champion Agile and scaled delivery models to improve speed, transparency, and execution quality.
Financial Management & Investment Governance
  • Own portfolio-level oversight of strategic investment initiatives across Payments, FX & Liquidity.
  • Monitor financial performance, investment outcomes, benefits realization and delivery effectiveness.
  • Conduct scenario modelling and investment analysis to support executive decision making.
  • Prepare business cases and recommendations for investment prioritization and funding approvals.
  • Partner with Finance and senior leadership teams to optimize return on strategic investments.
  • Ensure all audit, regulatory and remediation commitments are delivered to the highest standard.
  • Maintain effective product governance and control frameworks across the portfolio.
  • Partner with Legal, Compliance, Financial Crime, Operations and Risk teams to manage product risk and regulatory obligations.
  • Oversee product reviews, control assessments, regulatory change initiatives and governance forums.
  • Ensure products operate within Barclays' risk appetite and control environment.
FinTech Strategy & Ecosystem Development
  • Lead strategic relationships with FinTech partners, industry platforms, technology providers and third-party suppliers.
  • Evaluate partnership opportunities that enhance Barclays' product capabilities and market position.
  • Support sponsor banking, embedded finance, Banking-as-a-Service, APIs and emerging digital ecosystem strategies.
  • Represent Barclays in strategic client engagements, industry forums and external market discussions.
  • Drive innovation initiatives that create differentiated client solutions and commercial opportunities.
Stakeholder Leadership & Executive Engagement
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including Corporate & Investment Bank Executive Forums, senior business leaders, third-party suppliers and strategic clients.
  • Influence executive stakeholders and drive alignment across multiple businesses, functions and geographies.
  • Present product strategy, delivery updates, investment recommendations and governance matters to senior leadership.
  • Act as a trusted advisor on product strategy, execution and market developments.
People Leadership & Organizational Development
  • Build, lead and develop a high-performing global team of product managers and product specialists.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, continuous improvement and client focus.
  • Mentor and coach product talent to support career development and succession planning.
  • Establish clear performance objectives and development plans aligned with business priorities.
  • Promote collaboration and knowledge sharing across regional and global teams.
Essential Skills & Experience
  • Extensive experience in Transaction Banking, Payments, Treasury Management, FX and related client workflows.
  • Deep understanding of FinTech business models, embedded finance, Banking-as-a-Service and digital ecosystem strategies.
  • Proven experience leading strategic product portfolios and large-scale transformation initiatives.
  • Strong knowledge of payment infrastructures, including ACH, Wire, SWIFT, ISO 20022, APIs and real-time payment solutions.
  • Demonstrated success managing executive-level stakeholders and influencing strategic decisions.
  • Experience managing financial performance, investment portfolios and business case development.
  • Strong understanding of operational risk, regulatory compliance, audit management and governance frameworks.
  • Track record of building and leading high-performing global teams.
  • Excellent commercial, analytical, communication and leadership capabilities.
  • Experience operating within a highly regulated financial services environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting FinTech, Payment Processor, Embedded Banking or Banking-as-a-Service propositions.
  • Knowledge of sponsor banking, marketplace platforms, payment facilitators and digital commerce ecosystems.
  • Understanding of AML, KYC, sanctions, third-party risk management and FinTech regulatory considerations.
  • Experience presenting to executive committees, governance forums and board-level stakeholders.
  • SAFe, Agile, Product Management or Change Management certifications.
  • MBA or advanced business qualification.

Salary / Rate Minimum: $225,000

Salary / Rate Maximum: $300,000
