This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Warren, MI three times per week, at minimum or other frequency dictated by the business.

The Role

General Motors is seeking a Senior Software Feature/Experience Engineer for Digital Experiences Software Quality and Release is to lead the technical analysis of features and experiences, testing (bench/in-vehicle), automation, and highest quality software delivery to ensure our customers have magical experiences.

As a senior software feature engineer, you will partner with engineering managers, other engineers, and cross-functional stakeholders to establish the technical bar, enable the adoption of modern engineering practices, and deliver high-quality, customer-focused solutions. You will be expected to develop test plans, perform gap analysis, build automation cases, and mentor others.

What You'll Do

  • Perform deep technical analysis of incoming features and experiences.

  • Lead gap definition and test case development for the feature/experience you own.

  • Leverage automation to build & run efficient and effective tests.

  • Establish methodology to improve software quality

  • Subject Matter Expert for at least one feature/experience

  • Drive consistent adoption of modern engineering practices, ensuring solutions are secure, scalable, and resilient.

  • Detailed oriented follow-through and tracking of Jira tickets.

  • Provide technical direction and architectural guidance to across all pillars.

  • Serve as a trusted advisor for critical design decisions, technology adoption, and integration strategies.

  • Partner with product and business stakeholders to align technical strategies with long-term business outcomes.

  • Champion engineering best practices including CI/CD pipelines, observability, performance optimization, and automation.

  • Ensure adherence to coding standards, design patterns, and maintainable architecture across diverse teams.

  • Drive customer experience prioritization for your feature(s).

  • Foster alignment and collaboration across globally distributed engineering organizations.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

  • 5+ years of automotive/infotainment engineering experience

  • 4+ years of automotive industry experience or with direct suppliers such as Bosch, Google automotive or Android auto.

  • Extensive experience working on benches or in-vehicle

  • Experience leveraging programming to run test cases on bench or in-vehicle

  • Proven success launching digital features with specific attention to software quality testing, debugging, and issue resolution

  • Strong understanding of vehicle architecture

  • Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functionally, not just within a team of same reporting structure

  • Experience guiding multiple product areas or platforms within a large-scale, multi-pillar environment.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with both engineers and executives.

  • A passion for staying up-to-date with the latest industry trends, especially leveraging automation tools.
