Reporting to the Senior Director of Enterprise Data, this role serves as a trusted deputy and strategic partner responsible for ensuring that enterprise data architecture capabilities scale to support a rapidly growing portfolio of business, regulatory, analytical, and operational demands. The Director provides leadership across modern data platform initiatives, enterprise architecture engagement, banking domain architecture, regulatory and audit support, and ongoing business-as-usual data architecture services.
This leader is expected to balance strategic planning with operational execution, enabling sustainable growth of the Nexus platform while ensuring effective support for existing data ecosystems and enterprise-wide architecture priorities.
Responsibilities & Qualifications
1. Enterprise Data Architecture Leadership for Nexus
Provide leadership for architecture activities supporting the continued expansion of the Nexus platform and enterprise data ecosystem.
Responsibilities
  • Lead data architecture engagement across hundreds of business, analytical, operational, and regulatory use cases onboarded to Nexus.
  • Establish scalable architectural patterns that promote reuse, consistency, governance, and time-to-value.
  • Drive architecture reviews and solution assessments for new data products and strategic initiatives.
  • Ensure alignment of use case implementations with enterprise architecture standards and ED&A principles.
  • Partner with Data Engineering, Platform Engineering, Product Owners, Governance, and Analytics teams to support successful delivery.
  • Identify architectural improvements that increase scalability, reduce complexity, and improve platform adoption.
  • Ensure Nexus capabilities continue to evolve to support enterprise demand, growing data volumes, and emerging AI and analytics requirements.

2. Technology Strategic Roadmap (TSR) Alignment & Enterprise Initiatives
Provide architecture leadership supporting enterprise technology modernization initiatives and strategic roadmaps.
Responsibilities
  • Partner with Enterprise Architecture, Technology, and Business teams to assess Strategic Roadmap (TSR) initiatives and their impact on ED&A.
  • Evaluate whether strategic initiatives should leverage existing Nexus capabilities, require Nexus enhancements, or warrant alternate architectural solutions.
  • Drive architectural assessments and capability mapping for major technology transformation programs.
  • Ensure ED&A architecture participation throughout planning, design, implementation, and transition activities.
  • Identify opportunities to consolidate, standardize, and modernize data capabilities across strategic technology investments.
  • Provide enterprise data architecture guidance for platforms and solutions both within and outside the Nexus ecosystem.

3. Business-As-Usual (BAU) Data Architecture Services
Ensure effective enterprise architecture support for operational and ongoing delivery needs across all banking segments.
Responsibilities
  • Oversee architecture support for BAU initiatives, production enhancements, operational reporting, and business-driven requests.
  • Provide architectural guidance for existing and interim data platforms supporting critical business operations.
  • Establish architecture engagement processes that support both transformational and operational initiatives.
  • Ensure architecture standards and governance practices are consistently applied across current-state environments.
  • Balance tactical business requirements with long-term target-state architecture goals.
  • Partner with delivery teams to reduce technical debt and improve architectural alignment over time.

4. Risk, Compliance, Regulatory & Audit Support
Serve as the primary enterprise data architecture leader supporting risk, compliance, audit, and regulatory initiatives.
Responsibilities
  • Partner with Risk Management, Compliance, Internal Audit, Information Security, and Legal teams.
  • Ensure enterprise data architectures support governance, lineage, traceability, transparency, and accountability requirements.
  • Lead architecture responses to regulatory findings, audit observations, and control improvement initiatives.
  • Support enterprise-wide efforts related to data quality, metadata management, lineage, critical data elements, and information controls.
  • Participate in regulatory examinations, audits, and architecture assessments as required.
  • Promote architectural practices that strengthen enterprise data governance and risk management objectives.

5. Enterprise Architecture, Governance & Organizational Leadership
Provide broad leadership across ED&A architecture capabilities and strategic partnerships.
Responsibilities
  • Serve as a key liaison between ED&A and Enterprise Architecture.
  • Drive collaboration across Architecture, Engineering, Governance, Analytics, Product Management, and Business organizations.
  • Establish and maintain architecture governance processes and review forums.
  • Oversee enterprise data architecture standards, design practices, and decision frameworks.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop architects and information management professionals.
  • Support strategic planning, workforce development, organizational maturity, and operating model evolution.
  • Serve as the Senior Director's delegate in leadership forums, architecture reviews, steering committees, and executive discussions.

Leadership Expectations
The Director is expected to:
  • Operate as the Senior Director's deputy across Enterprise Data Architecture.
  • Lead architectural discussions spanning business strategy, technology modernization, governance, and risk management.
  • Influence decisions across banking, technology, governance, and executive leadership teams.
