Role Summary
The Senior Manager, Field Training is responsible for leading the strategy, design, and execution of training programs that enable a large, distributed field organization to perform at a high level across the nation. This role oversees training programs that support field operations which include equipment installation, onboarding, safety, upselling, upskilling, leadership development, and operational readiness, ensuring consistent execution, quality, and customer satisfaction across markets.
This leader partners closely with Field Operations, Program Management, Safety, SOP/Governance, Product, and Talent teams to build practical, scalable learning solutions for a geographically dispersed workforce. The ideal candidate brings deep experience leading training in operational environments and hands-on field operations experience supporting the installation of equipment, allowing them to translate real-world execution needs into effective learning programs.
Key Responsibilities
Training Strategy & Program Ownership
  • Define and lead the field training strategy for a nationwide organization of approximately 4,500 employees, aligned to operational, safety, quality, and customer experience goals
  • Oversee the full training lifecycle, including new hire onboarding, uptraining, upselling, certifications, leadership development, and rollout readiness
  • Ensure training programs are scalable, practical, and consistent across a geographically distributed field workforce
  • Translate operational changes, new initiatives, and field priorities into clear, actionable learning solutions
  • Use field performance data, learning feedback, and business results to continuously improve training effectiveness

Team Leadership & Development
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of training managers, facilitators, and program resources responsible for field enablement
  • Set clear goals, performance expectations, and development plans to build a high-performing training organization
  • Build organizational capabilities in facilitation, instructional design, execution, and field-facing partnership
  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and practical problem solving

Field Enablement & Stakeholder Partnership
  • Partner with Field Operations leaders to identify capability gaps and prioritize training that improves technician and support group performance
  • Collaborate with Program, Product, Safety, and SOP/Governance teams to ensure training reflects current tools, processes, and standards
  • Act as a strategic advisor to field leadership on workforce readiness, training adoption, and operational execution
  • Ensure learning solutions remain hands-on, field-relevant, and aligned to real installation and service environments

Program Design, Delivery & Governance
  • Oversee the design and delivery of instructor-led, virtual, blended, and digital learning solutions for field employees and leaders
  • Standardize national training programs while allowing for regional execution needs where appropriate
  • Ensure alignment with SOPs, safety requirements, compliance expectations, and operational governance and sales training to increase revenue
  • Manage training planning, scheduling, reporting, and completion tracking to support reliable execution at scale

Performance Measurement & Operational Impact
  • Define and track metrics such as time to proficiency, quality, rework, safety adherence, productivity, and customer outcomes
  • Use data to evaluate training effectiveness and identify opportunities to improve field readiness and consistency across markets
  • Link training outcomes to operational goals through strong partnership with field leadership and cross-functional teams

Qualifications
Required
  • 8+ years of experience in training, learning and development, field enablement, or operational training leadership
  • 3+ years of people leadership experience managing teams and developing leaders
  • Bachelor's degree in Learning and Development, Education, Business, Organizational Development, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience
  • Familiarity with LMS platforms, mobile learning, and modern enablement tools
  • Proven experience designing and scaling training for large, dispersed organizations, including nationwide deployment
  • Direct experience in field operations environments that include equipment installation, with the ability to translate field realities into practical training
  • Strong stakeholder management, facilitation, and cross-functional partnership skills
  • Data-driven mindset with experience using metrics to improve training outcomes and operational performance

Preferred
  • Experience in field service, home services, technical operations, or similar installation-based environments
  • Background in technical training, certification programs, or hands-on skills development
  • Experience integrating training with SOPs, governance, safety, and operational excellence programs
  • Familiarity with LMS platforms, mobile learning, and modern enablement tools
