THE TEAM

The mission of Digital Technology is to design, build, deliver and operate robust, efficient, and scalable Digital technology solutions that align with our strategic, business and technology goals.

THE OPPORTUNITY

As a member of the Digital Technology team, you will be responsible for architecting, designing, implementing, and continuously improving technology solutions. As an Engineering Manager, Customer Data, you will define integration patterns, lead technical discovery, and establish the structural integrity of our customer data ecosystem. This is a unique and highly exciting opportunity to build something from the ground up - shaping both the platform and the team that will support it. The role will begin with hands-on technical leadership to stand up the foundational infrastructure, and as the platform matures, your focus will transition to building out the team through recruiting, mentoring, and developing a dedicated squad of engineers to deliver against a shared technical vision. You will also be a key voice in our Digital Architecture forums and a strategic partner to Digital Product Management, accountable for building high-performing teams that deliver quality, reliable, secure and scalable technology products. THE ROLE

As the Senior Director/Director, Customer Data, you will:

  • Directly manage a squad of developers and QA engineers, providing mentorship, career development, and performance management, ensuring the squad consistently delivers high quality work

  • Build a collaborative team culture through participating in hiring decisions, onboarding new team members, and creating individual development plans

  • Define and communicate the technical vision and roadmap for your product area, balancing short-term delivery with long-term architectural goals while ensuring alignment with broader platform strategy

  • Establish and uphold technical standards and system design principles, guiding architecture decisions, managing technical debt, and maintaining best practices through code reviews and structured processes

  • Partner cross-functionally with Product Managers and Designers to shape solutions, validate feasibility, and recommend technical approaches that enhance user experience

  • Drive delivery excellence through agile leadership, removing blockers, tracking team velocity and quality metrics, and communicating progress and commitments to stakeholders

  • Provide strategic technical support through selective hands-on coding for critical items, high-level code reviews, and advanced debugging, while serving as the escalation point for complex production issues and ensuring knowledge sharing across the team

THE QUALIFICATIONS

The Senior Director/Director, Customer Data has:

  • Expertise in GCP or AWS, modern cloudnative architectures, and enterprise data platforms (e.g., BigQuery, Snowflake), with strong data modeling and scalable architecture design capabilities

  • Proven experience implementing and operationalizing CDPs, aligning with marketing technology ecosystems, business objectives, and customer data regulations

  • Deep knowledge of data governance, privacy, and compliance, with the ability to define data activation frameworks enabling realtime personalization and customer engagement

  • Strong expertise in enterprise integration patterns and API management using platforms such as Mulesoft, SAP CPI, Apigee, or AWS Gateway to enable secure, scalable data exchange

  • Solid grounding in modern software development (Java, Python, JavaScript), CI/CD pipelines, RESTful APIs, JSON, and contemporary development workflows supporting datadriven services

  • Handson experience with observability tools (e.g., New Relic, Datadog, SumoLogic), strong focus on cloud data security, and the ability to partner with analytics teams to deliver measurable, businessdriven data products
