Purpose
The Director, Data Enablement is responsible for defining and leading the enterprise data enablement strategy for the organization's data ingestion and transformation platforms. This role ensures that enterprise data platforms are understood, adopted, operationalized, and used consistently by business, technology, analytics, and AI teams.
The role is highly technical in orientation but not limited to hands-on engineering. The Director establishes the enablement operating model, onboarding standards, platform usage patterns, governance adoption, and cross-functional engagement needed to scale trusted data delivery across the enterprise.
This role requires strong leadership across enterprise technology, data platforms, cloud data ecosystems, data governance, operational readiness, stakeholder management, and organizational enablement.
What You'll Do
Enterprise Data Enablement Strategy
  • Define and execute the enterprise data enablement vision, strategy, and multi-year roadmap for data ingestion and transformation platforms.
  • Establish scalable enablement frameworks that help teams onboard to enterprise data platforms safely, consistently, and efficiently.
  • Define standards for platform usage, onboarding readiness, operating guidance, support paths, and capability maturity across domains and business lines.
  • Partner with senior technology, data, architecture, security, risk, and business stakeholders to align platform enablement with enterprise priorities.
  • Represent the enablement function in executive forums and translate platform capabilities, constraints, and adoption needs into clear business and technology recommendations.

Platform Enablement & Operating Model
  • Lead enablement across data ingestion, transformation, curation, medallion-layer workflows, data quality, lineage, observability, access patterns, and consumption readiness.
  • Establish repeatable onboarding models for domains, source-system teams, data engineering teams, analytics teams, and AI/ML consumers.
  • Create common playbooks, intake models, readiness checklists, decision frameworks, and operating procedures for enterprise data platform usage.
  • Ensure enablement activities are integrated with security, privacy, compliance, architecture, support, and operational governance processes.
  • Drive alignment between centralized platform teams and federated line-of-business delivery teams.

Enterprise Technology & Data Platform Leadership
  • Provide leadership across modern enterprise data ecosystems such as Azure Databricks, Unity Catalog, ADLS, cloud-native ingestion services, orchestration tooling, data catalogs, metadata platforms, and enterprise observability capabilities.
  • Guide teams on approved patterns for source onboarding, landing zones, bronze/silver/gold data flows, transformation standards, and data product readiness.
  • Partner with platform engineering teams to identify usability gaps, support issues, documentation needs, and capability enhancements that improve adoption and operational consistency.
  • Ensure platform enablement supports advanced analytics, reporting, AI, machine learning, and enterprise decommissioning objectives.

Governance, Risk & Controls Enablement
  • Ensure enablement practices reinforce governance-by-design, access controls, data classification, lineage, data quality, operational controls, and auditability.
  • Partner with data governance, security, privacy, risk, compliance, and architecture teams to convert policy expectations into practical platform usage guidance.
  • Support platform readiness for regulated data workloads by ensuring teams understand required controls, responsibilities, and escalation paths.
  • Promote clear separation of responsibilities between platform operations, source-system ownership, data domain ownership, and consuming teams.

Adoption, Value Realization & Metrics
  • Define enterprise data enablement success measures, adoption metrics, onboarding KPIs, platform utilization indicators, and value-realization reporting.
  • Track onboarding progress, adoption barriers, support trends, training effectiveness, platform readiness gaps, and business outcomes enabled by trusted data delivery.
  • Develop executive reporting that communicates data enablement progress, risks, capacity needs, and platform adoption maturity.
  • Identify repeatable patterns that accelerate data ingestion, transformation, data product creation, analytics delivery, and AI readiness.

Team Leadership & Talent Development
  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing data enablement organization with strong enterprise technology and platform fluency.
  • Develop the capabilities required to support onboarding, stakeholder engagement, platform documentation, training, operating guidance, and adoption analytics.
  • Foster a culture of practical enablement, clear communication, continuous improvement, and accountable execution.
  • Manage priorities, staffing, vendor support, and cross-functional dependencies required to scale enterprise data enablement.

What You'll Bring
Required
  • 10+ years of experience in enterprise technology, data platforms, cloud data ecosystems, data engineering enablement, platform adoption, digital transformation, or related leadership roles.
  • 5+ years of people leadership experience managing cross-functional teams or platform enablement functions.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting enterprise-scale data ingestion, data transformation, analytics, reporting, or data platform modernization efforts.
  • Strong understanding of modern data platform concepts including data lakes/lakehouses, medallion architecture, metadata, data quality, lineage, access control, and governed consumption patterns.
  • Experience working with Azure, Databricks, Unity Catalog, ADLS, cloud-native data services, orchestration, metadata/cataloging, or similar enterprise data technologies.
  • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive alignment across technology, data, security, risk, governance, and business organizations.
  • Strong executive communication, structured problem solving, operating model design, and change enablement skills.
  • Ability to lead enablement for technical platforms without requiring day-to-day hands-on coding ownership.

Preferred
  • Experience in financial services or another highly regulated enterprise environment.
  • Experience with enterprise data platform migrations, legacy platform decommissioning, or large-scale data modernization programs.
  • Experience developing onboarding guides, operating playbooks, standards, training materials, and adoption dashboards.
  • Advanced degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Spanish fluency is an asset.
